Murphy died today.
Like all good citizens,
he lived his life for others;
Sacrificing his own selfish thinking
for everybody’s collective thinking;
Subordinating his own greedy desires
to the united desires of all;
Surrendering his own egotistical creative urges,
to the creativity of the whole group.
He knew his place.
He wasn’t arrogant.
He wasn’t an “individualist.â€
He knew one man can’t make a difference,
and he knew that everything true and good
is linked directly to the standards of the majority.
He was special,
in his unspecialness.
Extraordinary in his averageness.
Exceptional in his normalness.
He was perfect,
so regular and ordinary.
Why doesn’t everybody live like…
like…
whatsisname…
Macy?
Murphy?
Murphy!
Yes, we will never forget Murphy.
Never forget him.
