I view the music of India as timeless. If you have heard the sitar and like it’s sound, you will enjoy the following musical CDs.
-
Three Ragas by Ravi Shankar: This CD was his first recording, originally on EMI Records in 1956. Most all his CDs are good but this one, “Three Ragas” is one of the best. Ravi Shankar plays the sitar.
-
Sarangi: The Music of India by Ustad Sultan Khan. Ustad Sultan Khan is the name of the musician. Sarangi is the title of the CD and also the name of the instrument he plays. It’s sort of like an Indian violin.
-
Sarangi by Ramesh Mishra. Ramesh Mishra is the name of the musician. Sarangi is the title of the CD and also the name of the instrument he plays.
All three CDs are instrumental, no vocals. If you like the sound of Ravi Shankar you may like Ramesh Mishra on the Sarangi even better.
