Music Thread (hear music here!!)

I propose that we all
in order to broaden our horizens
get an idea of what kind of music other people on this forum listen to

post your favorite bands
and then
post links to places where we can listen to some some of their music
this might take some amount of effort and searching on your part (use google), but it should be worth it.

i am interested to hear what kind of music you guys listen to and hopefully i might find something i like.

here is my contribution:

Muse: a british 'rock band i guess you can call them, their music i would describe as very intense.
Radiohead: another british ‘rock’ band that i would describe as intense and very unique, also i find it thought-provoking.
This particular link is a music video and the song is Paranoid Android.
This is a link to an un-official music video for their song Where I End and You Begin
Here is yet another of their songs Karma Police although i dont recommend watching the music video part of it cause its not the official one and it sucks, but just listen to the song.
And here is the last Radiohead song I’ll put up, and its the official music video, Pyramid Song

Also try out Medeski, Martin and Wood, their music is kind of a jam band type jazz, its all instrumental and its awesome, these guys are really talented.

I might post more later when i have the time, but i want to listen to what you guys listen to now.

pleeze don’t die thread…i wanted this thread to be a gallery of music (that we can listen to) that we all contributed to, i think that would be really cool to have.

One band I can’t say enough good stuff about is Within Temptation the lead singer has a wonderful voice and the songs are great.

Another great band is a local band in California, I believe, who came to Denver for an anime convention they’re called Phoenix/Nebulin. Good stuff.

can you link those bands to a place i can hear them?

phoenix/NEBULIN are from Florida. They have a myspace page with music attached that you can hear and last I was there a copy of their new video for “Don’t You Forget About Me”. Yes it’s a cover, and a good one at that.

myspace.com/phoenixnebulin

I think this thread has a slightly different purpose, but I understand the link, Obw.

Cuig - Excellent celtic folk group. I wish the mp3 section of their website worked, because I really wanna hear “American Spire” again, just for the great banjo solo.
The Battlefield Band - These guys are practically legendary among fans of Scottish Folk music.
Kate Rusby - A great Irish folk singer with a beautiful voice.
Flogging Molly - Hard rock/punk. Plenty much cool songs about Irish independence.
Dropkick Murphys Hard Irish rock. They cover a lot of classical Irish folk songs. Sometimes I think they overdo it a little.

That’s a few of my favorite folk groups/artists. I’ll post some country ones later.
And a lot more that I don’t feel like posting right now.

Oooh… I love Flogging Molly!

Yeah. Flogging Molly isn’t a band that everyone’s heard of, but among fans of its genre, it’s very popular.

Flogging Molly has this tremendous talent for being both edgy and traditional sounding at the same time.

They also have songs with a variety of attitudes, but each of them is pretty full of energy, in their own way.

Which song’s your favorite (of theirs)? Mine is “A Wonder and A Wild Desire.”

Totally Radio is not a band but it’s a good source of alt music in various genres. They tend to pick up things before they become known then drop them when everyone else is flogging them. The current weeks shows are free but for a small monthly fee you can access their archives.

Thanks for the links Mr. Kebop. For the other guys, this thread is for posting music links, not chatting. You already have a thread for that :imp:

Mr Kebop, how about changing the title to mention “links” to distinguish it from the other thread?

Hey, we were just discussing why we liked their music, giving people a better idea of what they sound like. It’s like a description.

I’m rather partial to “Grace of God Go I,” “Rebels of the Sacred Heart,” and “What’s Left of the Flag.”

yo i love the dropkick murphys and flogging molly.

thank you for having good taste.

for all you guys that posted links, thank you.

BTW this thread is for posting links that lead to music, that you can listen to.

you can chat all you want of course, but i would very much like to hear the music that you are talking about.

Because I’m a nice person and I’m willling to host the MP3’s, if you want I can host something one or maybe two songs by each artist, (only that many to keep me from feeling like a pirate–argh!!) so people can listen. Just help me decide which ones to host, if you have any suggestions (this is particularly to you, manifested, and anyone else who also listens to any of the artists I listed).

To Mr. Kebop:
Thank you. I’ll get some playable links up soon.

Okay, I’ll ante up:
