Musterd Oil

As the winter season is on in many parts of the world, thus I thought that i must share this with others.

Dryness of the skin is a common problem during the winter season. Cosmatic compaies offer a lot of products to tackle this. Surely, some of those may be helpful. But, let me offer a very simple and almost free cure.

All you need is some plain Mustard Oil.

Keep some quantity of pure mustard oil in your bathroom. And, when you have been finished with the bath, take 2-3 drops (not more) of the mustard oil in your palm, spread it all over the insides of your both hands by rubbing those together, and ran those oily hands all over your body. If the whole body cannot be covered in one attempt, repeat this for one more time. After that, put some warm water again on your body and rub it slightly all over with your hands again (without using further oil) just for some seconds. That is all.

This whole process will not take more than 2-3 min maximum and literally free of cost. But, do not put oily hands on your face and hair. You will feel the difference within 1-2 days. The dryness of the skin would be gone and it will become softer and smoother than ever before.

But, do not do this in warm season. And, make sure that you put some warm (not cold) water again on your body after applying oil.

Secondly, the quantity of the oil may vary slightly (within the range of 3-4 drops) person to person as it depends of the skin type.

Those, who fear about the consequences, must know that there is nothing new in it. It is time tested cure for dryness in winter since ages.

It can be a good bug repellent as well. Coconut oil works well for dryness, cuts and repellent. It is a natural antibiotic.

Yes, it is also a bug repellent to some extent.

And, Coconut oil also helps the cause but mustard oil is the best as far as the skin is concerned. Kris, different oils serves better in the case of different body parts.

Musterd oil is best for the skin. On the other hand, Coconot oil is best for the hair along with Amla oil, which is extracted from the fruit of the tree and also known as emblic, emblic myrobalan, myrobalan, Indian gooseberry or Malacca tree. Its botanical name is Phyllanthus emblica.

Both of Coconut and Amla oils are very easily available and very cheap too in the comparison of the cosmetics.

For the lips, Ghee is the best. Ghee is basically clarified Butter, though you have to go slightly beyond merely clarifying the butter to make ghee. You have to put butter on the heat till it caramelizes and turns slightly yellowish.

Now, you have to dip your finger in it and rub it for some seconds on your lips. If one does it daily, his/her lips will remain soft and pink forever. One will never suffer from the Cold Sore also, which is a very common phenomenon.

One can use Ghee for the skin in the place of mustard oil also. The results would be even better. It gives extra shine to the skin. Unlike mustard and coconut oils, it can be applied to the face too, or even on the head. But, as it is costly than both of other oils, it is not used generally in that way, though its cost is still nothing if one compares it with cosmetics.

And, Ghee made from cow’s milk serves the purpose better than buffalo, if one can find that.

Wont that make you smell like mustard?

I use this:

And for my hair… this:

I agree that oils are awesome for keeping the body and hair moisturised…keeping hydrated also works for keeping both in great condition, and also not doing the daily washing that the shampoo/conditioner and shower gel/bubble bath industry advocate doing to sell more product as it strips the skin and hair of its natural oils.

Pretend she’s a burger or hotdog… and take a bite

Not at all. Neither you nor anyone else would smell or feel anything different.
Do not worry about that.

Why do you not give it a try! It is not a big deal.

How much do they cost per 100 ml?

Let me share something more about bathing.

The temperature of the water also plays a part in many ways.

Ideally, the water should be the same as of the temperature of the body, or slightly warm than that. Both of too cold and too hot water are not good for skin. Too warm water actually dehydrates skin rather than adding moisture to it.

Fresh water taken from deep earth (like wells) is usually good for all seasons, though i do not think that one may find wells anymore in the west now, at least for private use.

Taking bath with cold water helps the patients of having high blood pressure. The blood vessels closer to the skin shrink when come in the touch of cold water. That puts extra pressure on the vessels which are located more internally. This pressure stretches them and that results in less blood pressure.

Madsj was right. It is not good to use too much soaps, especially in the summer season. It causes more harm than benefit. The more important thing to do is to rub the whole wet body with hands. One should spend 1-2 minutes in that. It helps a lot in many ways. It removes the dead cells from the skin and also improves the blood circulation of the skin cells. One may use soaps on alternate days. Tough, skin gets more oily in the winters and every body’s skin is different to some extent.

Slightly warm water cleans body more than colder one. It helps in removing oil and dust. I can continue with lukewarm water in the summers too.

But, for students, it is good to have bath with slighly cold water in the morning. it improves the blood circulation the brain and that helps in memory and concentration. Secondly, cold water acts as a deterrant to sexual desires. They can use warm water in the evening but not in the morning.

Those people, who get desperate and anxious easily, should aviod hot water. Having bath with cold water will help them to calm down.

One should not take bath just after having meals. There must me some gap, one hour at least. Taking bath just after having meals may cause problem in digestion.

Those who suffer from sleeping disorder, should wash their feet with cold water just before going to the bed. That helps in sleeping.

In the summer season, one should always pour water first on the head, not the legs, if the water is cold from the body.

I’m gonna try this with the first girl I meet who smells like mustard.

Just add a few drops of ketchup, mayonnaise, fried garlic and onion juice, pickle juice, and beef au jus.

… if nothing else, the dog will prevent dry skin … or Mr R.

??
Every study indicates that blood pressure rises when the body is exposed to cold temperatures. Easy to google.

I think he means over the long term. Like it rises temporarily because some vessels constrict, and when that happens it forces blood to divert through other ones, which then stretch, then the stretch remains and then when they get out of the cold bath they have newly stretched vessels that result in lower blood pressure later on. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I think it’s what he’s saying.

It’s terrible advice :

I don’t like oily products as they tend to block the pores and sit on top, not seep in. Vitamin E I believe is a nourishing and therapeutic cream for the skin. I always read what makes up these face and body products and the list sometimes is quite alarming. I do agree, keep it simple.

Drink plenty of water and have a sensible diet, you are what you eat.

That is true but not in in the long run. That happens precisely because of the reason that i mentioned.

These are such small health tips which are meant for maintaining it in the long run. These are not medicines, which can give immediate results.

One should not expect that a person having a heart atteck will get any relief from bathing cold water. But, it can help him in the long run.

You got it absolutely right. It is not a difficult thing to understand. But, more often than out, we tend to get influnced by what the gereral perception is.

Phyllo,

I do not think that either it is a terrible advice or your quote contradicts my point in any way.
Look carefully again. That quote says the same what i am suggesting.

Yes.

True again.

The oil mist is £5.33 per 100ml… £7.99 for a 150ml bottle, which lasts for months and months.

The olive oil hair moisturiser costs £2.99 per 100ml… £4.49 for a 150ml bottle, which again lasts for months and months.
