Math is a language, made for deducing the noumena out of the phenoumena that we perceive. It is a universal language. Making things up has no place in there if you ask me.
Languages are made up… we make languages up, equations, words, etc. If we don’t constantly make up and add new things to express through words what we see, feel and perceive that language would be useless/dead.
I just answered the problem you had with the sequence as well. Even with starting at 0 it still goes up because the next would be 0, 1 = 1 then 0, 1, 1. 1+1 = 2, 0,1,1,2, 3 and so forth. The 1 goes on because 0+1 is obviously 1. the last two digits equals one, then it would add the 1 again because A. you got the first digit from adding to 0, then the next digit would just be one because of the addition previous… which would then be 1+1 = 2…
Well not necessarily. We created math, as a language and tool just as we created English and other languages. Math is there to help us explain and recognize the physical world through equation/text/verbal communication. Also to pass down knowledge through math in hopes of discovering newer equations/theories.
Any other species anywhere else in the universe will discover math the same way we did, but not many will want to add an inconsistent sequence of numbers, imo.
How is it inconsistent, it’s simple… the last two digits is what makes the next number (sum), easily predictable and do-able… it’s the mathematical representation of physical spiraling. Discover math? how was it discovered exactly, through seeing physical objects and reality around us? The mind created math as a language to use as a tool, it is just the human interpretation of the physical world/universe around us… that’s all it is. If we disappeared there would be no math… only the reality of which we wouldn’t be existent. in anymore.
That’s not inconsistency… It’s just how the number works and has always worked. If that is inconsistent than anything using the number 0 is inconsistent as well as the universe. It doesn’t have to be used while doing the sequence either, it’s just there to show that it starts from scratch (the beginning… 1).
The Greeks (or anyone else building structures) did not choose to build square and rectangular structures rather than some other style because they wanted to express this ‘golden rectangle’ in their architecture. That’s bullshit.
They built square and rectangular structures because they are so easily built… and because they didn’t have the patience to spend all the time necessary designing arched load bearing points that curved structures require. Vertical frames and support beams are much easier to build.
Everybody is thinking “oh my gosh that is SO COOL! Those dudes built those structures to express the golden rectangle in their architecture. That’s so neat!”
Nonsense. This is post-hoc credit where it isn’t deserved!
Alls I’m saying is chances are you are not going to introduce anyone here to the wonders of mathematics, this being a philosophy board and all. It’s like teaching a frenchman some cool french words, know what I’m saying?
I don’t mean to diss you. It’s cool to be able to go on a hike and find the golden ratio all over the place and marvel at the universe, but chances are nobody is going to marvel at your tacky sig.
Try social media, or a forum with a younger demographic.
No one said to marvel at my sig. I was merely explaining what it is, and just because it’s a philosophy forum doesn’t mean everyone here does math, so it’s really not like teaching a frenchman french words. It isn’t even in the mathematics thread, the entire purpose of this thread is explaining how living things are connected to each other and everything has a spiral. It seems you missed the entire point/op. Just because I explained the fibonacci sequence and it’s mathematics doesn’t mean it is a thread just about math.
Who said it was cool or to marvel at it, i’m just explaining what it all is.
Hahahaha. I prefer the darkness, and not a lot of people care about the fibonacci/flower of life. Otherwise a lot more people would know the significance of everything being connected, the universe and all.
You make it sound like a cult when you put it like that. Fuck all that divine light bs. Darkness is the father.
