my god

I know what my god is…I have a spiritual connection to my god…I will define my own god the way I want…
and nobody is going to stand in the way of that connection…I will use the word god and I will define god as I see it…I don’t care to argue about the definition…it doesn’t matter at all…I am perfectly happy with this way of looking at gods…everyone has their own god…everyone should have their own god…

Sounds like a personal solution to me.

that is what it is all about…each one of us has a personal solution…

Agree. What more can be said?

wow…I am so glad you agree…it seems fundamental…

I have myself and nature. I am content with that.

If everybody just went on to define every word according to their subjective liking we couldn’t communicate anymore, are you people aware of that? The reason we can communicate is that there are objective definitions of words we all refer to when we say a word.

If you intend to talk about what you intend to call “god” with other people, please, for the sake of clear communication, use another word if you intend to use it in a way which deviates from the official definitions. Invent a new word and define it, so people know what you’re talking about and you can have a productive conversation. Otherwise you’ll just end up misunderstanding each other.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

you are right…but I have noticed here on ilp a great deal of misunderstanding about the definition of the god word… the intimate connection I have with my god will not be broken by other persons whoever they may be…I am not my god…my god is something else having to do with the universe and life as we know it…
everyone else needs to have their own god…what is the nature of your god atheris…

I’m afraid to discuss my personal view of God since, in another thread, I’ve been accused of having the same mindset as terrorists. I will just say that I’m materialist/spiritualist and my relationship with God began as a definite experience of God, not as a belief, not as some leap of faith. It was a real happening for me.

So, you noticed a great deal of misunderstanding, don’t you think atheists and theists alike should work towards reducing misunderstandings, not that all of us should just make up our own definitions and contribute to misunderstandings?

For example, right now, I have no idea what you’re talking about when you say God. Something having to do with universe and life? Possibly the vaguest definition of God ever?

Have my own God? Is God something I can possess according to you?

I would be interested to hear about your experience. Do you feel comfortable sharing it? Or perhaps direct me to where you have previously shared.

Thanks for asking. I’m not comfortable talking about it here at ILP.

I am getting closer and closer to my god…the more I hear people asking about my god I think of the tao concept of god…don’t ask me to explain please…nothing stands between me and my god…nothing ever again…
the idea of atheist and theist talking about god is very difficult…neither one is open-minded

I’ll meet you in a bar, one day.

Atheists are open minded… just not to bull shit with no evidence.

Atheists I have met put their faith in their God, which is reason, and are anything but open minded.

Calling reason a God? I didn’t know reason is a powerful, intelligent, sentient being responsible for creating the universe. I guess we’ll just call anything and everything a God (oh wait, we already have that, it’s called Pantheism).

turtle, why make a thread titled “my god” if you aren’t willing to talk about it and examine it? You’re really a master level troll

What you put your faith in is your God.

My god isn’t by definition “god”. I don’t believe in a super man in the sky. There is us and nature/universe.

Atheists are more open minded than the religious conformists. Atheists have no restrictions for thinking. They can think about whatever they want without fear of hell or false hope of heaven or a deities judgement.
