I think long-term it’s good that Islam is invading Western-Europe.
The mean idea is that Western-european culture is becoming weak and stagnating.
The Meta-Values (not actual values, but values about values) that Western-Europe has been sporting, tolerance, and all kinds of freedoms of… are being tested now.
If they manage to survive or adjust to the Islamic presence, they will have proven themselves, and will probably become more cleary defined and solid because of that proces.
If Islam does take over however, it’s probably a sign that the values were to weak and hollow for a long term sustainable society.
Do you live in the Netherlands fixed cross? From what I know, there’s growing sentiment throughout Europe that the Muslim element is becoming intolerable. If I recall correctly, Sweden is a locus of of Muslim/European tension. I didn’t know it was a big issue in Netherlands.

Yes I do. It’s been the top issue for over ten years. It really took shape for me with the ritual slaying, around the corner of my house, of one of our finest filmmakers who had insulted the Koran. Tolerance for Islamic customs has been increasing ever since.

I still like the guy who’s in front of the camera here, but he, nor any other muslim I have spoken to, is ready to abandon ideas that the wife should ask the husband for permission to leave the house, or that homosexuals burning in hell, etcetera. In other words, muslims very often seem very lax-minded, but when it comes down to it, they believe in the totality of the Koran as absolute and holy.
No moderate Dutchman can ever begin to comprehend this radicalism. They think that if you tolerate someone, he will tolerate you.

They are not exempt from the countries laws… they live in getto’s where Islamic customs are enforces socially.

I think I do understand where Fixed Cross is coming from. If that call to prayer exceeds the sound norms that apply to non-religious practices, and if it’s nevertheless legal because it’s a religious practice, then the floodgates are open: after all, it should then be legal for me to kill people as a religious practice, regardless of whether it’s legal to kill people when it’s not done as a religious practice.
