New Discovery

What he really meant to say is:

“Huh?! You sound so childish and naive and simple…How old are you?!”

PG: The reason you think this way is because you believe everyone thinks like you. Maybe this is your meme, if that makes sense. You have come to believe certain things and maybe it’s true that many of the people on this board have similar views. But this doesn’t negate anything I have posited. I took Nothingness’ question to be one of curiosity, not one of condemnation that I’m childish and simple. I’m no more childish than you Satyr who plays all kinds of games in order to be right, even when there are other views that trump yours on the measure of accuracy.

I have a feeling this thread will die soon only because you have never asked a relevant question, nor have you read any of the book which I posted. You are not at all curious as to what this author discovered, or even what kind of person he was. All you want to do is discredit anyone who disagrees with your perspective on life. I have said it but I’ll say it again, there is a lot I agree with you about the destructiveness of culture and its institutions. I hated school and I don’t like the marketing machine at all. In fact, I believe it has hurt so many women especially. I also hate the mask that everyone feels like they must wear in society. But your knowledge is lacking and until you can accept that, you will be just as stuck on your ideas as the believer is stuck on his ideas. There is no difference; it just appears that way.

Keep talking.

Of particular interest, if only for their entertainment value:

=D>

No, seriously, how old re you?
I too am, merely, curious.

PG: I am older and wiser than you. You’re making fun of me but in actuality you’re making fun of yourself because everyone can see you’re need to be right when they see you can’t even give me a straight answer. There is no real discussion here; it’s all laughter at my expense. You’re trying to make me look like a child by your remarks but anyone who knows psychology will see that you are trying to win an argument by bullying me into submission. You’re no different than a school boy who gets a kick out of pulling all the girls’ pigtails.
Geeshhhhhhh! :unamused:

I just want to add Satyr that you are trying to make me look like a fool, but I am not. I have a lot of knowledge based on clear and accurate premises. If you can’t accept that, and as a result you play your little games of trying to make me look stupid, it isn’t going to work unless your following accepts your domination hook, line, and sinker. I don’t. You are a scared little boy trying to be a big man. Aren’t we all scared children? But you have crossed your boundary with me.

You are so scared that I might have something to offer (or for that matter anyone who disagrees with your take on life) that your attacks come prematurely. You have pushed me out of a forum where people might have learned something. And because of this your philosophy of life takes over this discussion board. I hope you are a happy man, but just remember that you don’t have all the answers. Give others a chance if you can. Don’t be so threatened by people who are not part of the masses, and yet have something worthy to say, that you hear them out with an open mind. Maybe, just maybe, you will change your perspective to include others as being important, not just the overman (which gives you a sense of importance).

I would like to encourage Ms. Peacegirl in her efforts, and assure her that upon any unbiased reading of the dialogue which has commenced thus far, the foolishness of the parties involved is glaring where such an observation is due!

I would like to admit that I was drawn into this discussion because of the Title, however, from browsing down through the first page of this thread, I have only been able to glean an obscure understanding of what is being presented.

As a personal favor to me Ms. Peacegirl, would you be willing to perhaps give a brief summary of your intentions in this thread as well as provide some information about the author of the text? Such things would help to contextualize the discussion for me and help in better understanding the issues at stake!

I could also add that such a summary presumably would steer this conversation back onto a more civil path.

PG: I will do my best to summarize and if you need more input I’m willing to speak in my own words as long as in doing so it doesn’t lose continuity. The purpose of this thread is to share a discovery which has not been given the careful analysis that it deserves. The author didn’t have the internet, and was unable to bring his knowledge to light in his lifetime. I am trying to prevent this knowledge from getting lost but I am finding out that these forums might not be the right venue either. Everyone seems to have their own agenda, which does not allow me to make a dent in what I’m trying to get across. Maybe I shouldn’t have titled the thread, New Discovery, because there are so many people who make claims that are not genuine that I am immediately looked at suspiciously. This discovery is genuine and the author goes on to show that behind the door of determinism (not the conventional definition), there is a storehouse of knowledge that has the amazing power to change our world for the better. I can explain more if you are interested but if you carefully read the first two (hopefully three) chapters, many of your questions will be answered. The only drawback is that in the middle of cutting and pasting, some people started asking questions and challenging me, which you will need to pass over. I do thank you for your interest.

I appreciate your reply, and I may read through what you have posted at some point. I was specifically hoping that you could provide a name, or title of a published work so that I could approach the discussion from a more “fair” position.

While I think being emotionally attatched to a specific line of thinking is admirable, the investigation of truth should be unbiased, and I try to fairly represent a persons view when critiquing it, not giving overly due influence to their past works or actions.

I look forward to any future discussions on this issue (especially since I take the teachings of a little known  theologian named John Calvin very seroiously. Calvin himself having studied Stoicism!)

PG: The only reason I am able to talk with such confidence is not due to emotion but to understanding certain facts about man’s nature. In other words, it doesn’t matter whether I believe the sky is green and the grass is blue, nor does it matter whether I believe god exists or doesn’t exist, when it comes to a discussion regarding this discovery, I need to prove one thing only, that the knowledge I am presenting is factual.

Can you give an idea of what this “discovery” is? I have far too many books on my reading list now. Otherwise, I will move on and never know what this particular discovery is.

PG: I can let you read the foreword. Maybe this will help you to decide whether you want to read the book or not. It’s almost near impossible for me to summarize the first two chapters which are the most important and the foundation for the rest of the book.

FOREWORD

My dear friends, relations, and people throughout the earth, the purpose of

this book is to clarify knowledge that must be brought to light as quickly as
possible because it can prevent what nobody wants – a nuclear holocaust. With
the world in turmoil and on the threshold of an atomic explosion which could be
started accidentally and could very well destroy all civilization, I am announcing
a scientific discovery that will make war an absolute impossibility and
revolutionize the life of man entirely for his benefit. Every bit of hurt that exists
in human relations will be virtually wiped from the face of the earth by
something so superior to punishment, as a deterrent, that people the world over
will be prevented from committing those very acts of evil for which blame and
punishment were previously necessary. You needn’t jump to the conclusion that
this is impossible because you can use yourself as a guinea pig in a test that
every person can take at the end of the third chapter. Remember, proof of the
pudding is in the eating. It is important to know that this book does not
contain a theory but an undeniable equation that can be scientifically proven. It
has no biases, prejudices or ulterior motives – its only concern is in revealing
knowledge never before understood. Furthermore, this book has nothing
whatever to do with communism, socialism, capitalism, religion, or philosophy;
only with the removal of beliefs among the top echelon of the educated who
have been unconsciously passing along from generation to generation inaccurate
facts in the guise of genuine knowledge. There are people who may be blinded
by this mathematical revelation as they come out of Plato’s cave, having lived so
many years in the shadows that distorted their beliefs into a semblance of reality
– and may deny what they do not understand or don’t want to be true. Just bear
in mind that any disagreement can be clarified in such a way that they will be
compelled to say, “Now I understand and agree.” I am about to demonstrate in a
manner our world’s leading scientists will be unable to deny not only that the
mankind system is just as harmonious as the solar system despite all the evil and
ignorance that ever existed, but that the inception of the Golden Age cannot
commence until the knowledge pertaining to this law is accurately understood.
What is about to be revealed is unprecedented. Soon enough the world will
know, without reservation, that mankind is on the threshold of a GOLDEN AGE
prophesied in the Bible that must come to pass out of absolute necessity when
this natural law is stamped by the exact sciences with the brevet of truth.
In view of the fact that the first two chapters must be studied thoroughly
before any other reading is done, a table of contents has been omitted to preclude
as much as possible someone reading the book in a desultory manner. Each part
is mathematically related to the whole consequently opening the book at random
would be equivalent to learning an equation with the first half deleted. Should
you jump ahead and read other chapters, this work could appear like a fairy tale
otherwise the statement that truth is stranger than fiction will be amply verified
by the scientific world, or by yourself, if you are able to follow the reasoning of
mathematical relations. If you find the first two chapters difficult, don’t be
discouraged because what follows will help you understand it much better the
second time around. For the purpose of reinforcing important points and
extending the principles in a more cohesive fashion, there is a certain amount of
repetition, but despite all efforts to make this work easier to understand it is still
deep and will require that you go at a snail’s pace reading many things over and
over again. When you have finally grasped the full significance and magnitude
of this work, and further realize there has never been and will never be another
like it because of what is undeniable achieved, you will cherish it throughout
your entire life.
Well, would you like to see what happens when science, the perception and
extension of undeniable observations, takes over the problems of human conflict
as the result of a fantastic discovery? Would you like to see that the mankind
system has been obeying an invariable law just as mathematically harmonious as
that which inheres in the solar system; a law that allowed a prophesy to be made
thousands of years ago and verified in the 20th century [please note that this
discovery was made in 1959, although scientists have not given this work a
thorough investigation]. Would you like to learn, though this book has nothing
whatever to do with religion or philosophy, that your faith in God will finally be
rewarded with a virtual miracle, one that will shortly deliver us from all evil? If
you are sincerely interested in seeing this fantastic transition to a new way of life
which must come about the moment this discovery is thoroughly understood, all
I ask is that you do not judge what you are about to read in terms of your present
knowledge but do everything in your power to understand what is written by
following the mathematical relations implicitly expressed throughout. Please
remember that any truth revealed in a mathematical manner does not require
your approval for its validity, although it does necessitate your understanding for
recognition and development. And now my friends, if you care to come along,
let us embark; the hour is getting late.

Ms. Peacegirl,

I have to approach you with all due respect in a manner worthy of any civil discussion with the hope that such an approach would lead to a more enjoyable discussion on the part of all members involved.

Judging from the “Forward” of this book that you are presenting us with, I can already tell that the mysterious author (who has yet to be named) must of necessity be mistaken on some level of his epistemological reasoning. (and by inference any other conclusions based on this faulty foundation are dubious)

I have it in mind to do a thorough critique of the text so far presented in order to show this conclusively, however, just from reading it initially, I can already pick out certain errors in the authors reasoning process.

What truth can experience yield in a deterministic universe?

It is far from my intentions to get you sidetracked from any main goal that you are attempting to achieve with this thread, however, I do feel that without further information on the nature of this “discovery” that relinquishing this sensational work to the graveyard of items no longer residing on my reading list is completely warranted.

PG: The information about this discovery as succinctly as I can put it, without confusing anyone, is that with the knowledge that man’s will is not free (which is proven through impeccable reasoning), we are able to prevent that for which blame and punishment were previously necessary. In other words, with this knowledge (God’s knowledge) we are able to prevent the desire to strike a first blow which negates the need to strike back an eye for an eye or to turn the other cheek because the first cheek has not been struck. This knowledge brings conscience and responsibility to a level never before seen in history, thus allowing us to prevent the evil that has plagued mankind. This is God, the mathematical law is God. So if you are a religious type, this should make you happy although God turns out to be a law of our nature, not a human being. It should satisfy those who are atheists for the same reason. In fact, this law satisfies the entire human race making this world not only a possibility, but inevitable in due time.

Sounds like the same ol’ (albeit revamped) consistent materialism, and the same refutations apply.

Yes. The author cannot be wrong. It would be too unfair if he would be dead and wrong.

PG: Sounds is the operative word here. It’s amazing how preconceived ideas disallow true understanding.

PG: The only way to know whether the author is right or wrong is to determine whether the principles are irrefutable. But in order to be a judge of this work, you have to understand the principles otherwise your opinion doesn’t really matter. Would Einstein have thrown out his discoveries just because someone disagreed with them (obviously because they didn’t understand them)? I’m not saying that the people here don’t have the capacity to understand this work, but I do say that if people don’t give up their preconceived ideas they won’t be objective in their analysis.

Maybe your four children are adults and can take care of themselves now, and this is the reason you have now taken up the task of taking care of this brainchild. Otherwise, I suggest you spend the energy you now spend on this brainchild on your children: they have more future.

PG: I know you aren’t advising me how to spend my energy because you care about me. So what is your motive Sawelios? Aren’t you spending a lot of energy on this forum talking about the subject you are passionate about? Why shouldn’t I? My children are grown and now I have more time to share with others what I have known about since I was a child. This knowledge is worth reading if you ever desired to give it a chance. In your world, I’m not sure what that makes me. Maybe some kind of feminine unconformist with a conformist edge. Who knows how you’ll label me, but it doesn’t matter in the end. The truth remains the truth.

This is getting better and better.
