Shooting the driver of a moving vehicle is obviously NOT an effective way to immediately stop the vehicle. He could have been out of the way in the time it took him to get out his gun. It doesn’t matter what the facts are. Nothing is going to happen to him under the Trump administration. He will probably get a medal.
I’m not going to speculate on anybody’s intentions, but it should be noted that it’s in ICE training NOT to walk in front of any vehicle with a driver, and NOT to shoot a driver to stop a vehicle.
Think about it, if a vehicle really is coming at you and you shoot the driver, can you reasonably expect that to stop the vehicle from coming at you? Killing people does not activate brake pedals. Every adult here should be aware of that.

I might use the word aids or cancer as an insult, but never directly and personally, for example I might say that “this product is aids” or “society is cancer”, or something like that.
Braking would stop a vehicle quicker. But a driver intent on running you over, isn’t going to apply the brakes. They’re going to apply the gas and then flee. Shooting the driver, in that case, is pretty much the only way to stop that vehicle. Your argument, that it has “inertia”, means that it’s still going to stop… because the gas pedal is no longer being stomped.
Shooting drivers does stop the car. It’s pretty simple and straight forward.

My approach to Philosophy has been pretty consistent over the years. I try to give everybody ‘resets’. Let each day be new. If somebody wants to change their behavior, views, whatever, I’m open-minded to that. Let people fix mistakes.
Thus, like you say, I try my best not to insult or Ad Hom people, especially at their weak points, unless they want to go that route, or consistently do so (day after day after day, like @VictorMcCheeseEsq ). Then there are other special cases, like people who really want to go after the person, death threats, doxxing, etc. which there have been throughout this forum’s history.
Arguments should stay in the Agora, which is why this is a Philosophy forum. That’s up to the administrator and moderators to deal with.

Again, you’re not allowed any privilege to drive down and drive over an officer.
If an officer stands in front of your vehicle you stop. If you try to drive over an officer that is considered assault with a deadly weapon, with the vehicle itself.
Over the years I have had several interactions with the police where many of them have been unpleasant to where I am not their biggest number one fan but even I know you don’t go around running over the police with your SUV.
That’s inviting yourself to be shot which appears to be what happened to that woman.
