New light on the teaching of ethical ideas to the layperson

.
In this new report that just came out Ethical Theory is presented to the intelligent layperson to philosophy as a kind of “how to” form of instruction and edification, to aid in personal growth. [The idea is to strengthen those who already behave ethically to some degree by providing them with tools to mentor others who have the potential for further personal development …and in the course of doing so perhaps serve to help themselves in the process.]

Dr. Katz considers it to be a synthesis of various stands in the history of ethical theories and ideas. Let me know if you think this synthesis, the work of moral philosophy presented in that relatively-brief paper (only 6 pages if printed out on both sides of a sheet) makes a useful contribution to a better world. [some of it you have seen before, as he borrows from various earlier posts and threads he tried out here.] Was it a good job? Did you learn anything? Was it worth doing?

Can you use it? Does it contribute to greater understanding?

I’m taking a poll:

How many read the booklet all the way through

Did you notice the three typos??

Are you glad you read it, or sorry?

I’m referring to the philosophical reflections in the paper SUCCESSFUL LIVING.

Please respond.

Allow me to rephrase that question:

Have you read that little brochure all the way through?

Do you appreciate it?

Was it time well spent?

We can all be educators or mentors or life coaches. The brochure provides material we can use as a basis for discussion. Have you found it to be useful this way?

Let’s hear from you. Okay?
