New Philosophy Lead

I suppose I ought to point out that no one has used this phrase yet except you. So please do kindly put your dick away.

I mention power because Faust was using the guise of joviality to cover up the fact that he was actually flaunting his: you can exaggerate a point until it seems clearly unbelievable and silly, but the point is still there. Except his point isn’t really valid, because he seems to be more restricted by the rules than anyone who knows what they are and how to get around them. This makes him a poor moderator because he cannot do his job except within rules. Rules are highly flawed and no matter how many more you add, you’ll never fill the gaps like discretion can - so the job he does do is always a poor one. Discretion is enough even for minimal rules - you just need to have a talent for it.

As much as I love light heartedness, I don’t really see how this issue is funny. Rigidity is exactly what you need to halt light heartedness, no matter how you try to cover it up with attempted light heartedness - you just come across as someone who you feel obliged to chuckle at out of politeness, but who you’d rather avoid if possible. Now he’s been demoted, the forum suddenly seems a lot brighter.

I have no idea how much experience you have as a moderator, but I assure you, haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about. Given the purile crap in this forum, Faust could have moved over half of it to mundane or rant. You, YOU aren’t aware of the back channel PM’s it took to keep the “dick wavers” from going too stupid. In a website that governs in restraint to the maximum, all the mods including Faust do what they do in the style that best suits them. You don’t like it? Tough shit. You’re damned lucky you didn’t see strict moderation.

Lol. On what grounds? Clearly I’m not here to cause trouble, wave my dick, or de-rail. I actually take philosophy seriously and contribute much to this forum - there has never been anything within the rules to incriminate me, and I have received much positive recognition for what doesn’t incriminate me.

I will use available opportunities to give myself a voice because there is always a huge amount of sense in what I have to say. I have no doubt that a lot of work and PM traffic goes into maintaining this forum, and a lot of the decisions I agree with - and I say so too, I do not just give negative criticism.

The fact is that moderation measures would be significantly more successful with someone like O_H taking the place of Faust. The theory (which clearly holds in practice) is simple: the use of discretion is quite apparent in O_H and quite devoid within Faust - and relying on rules to deal with everything can only resolve specific things at a time. Anything new or unconsidered slips through and calls for more rules… UNLESS you use discretion to rehumanise the experience and more effectively deal with life as fluid rather than a series of static instances (which discrete rules imitate). To face and deal with life, you need someone with enough intelligence to actually be able to take on life. You don’t like life because you can’t deal with it without hiding behind rules? To quote you and your abuse of your precious forum rules, “Tough shit.” Moderation please! O:)

I see! So for you, it’s all style and vague references to discretion as only you can see it. And of course, you’re the last-word expert on “rehumanise” - whatever the hell that means.

Oh my, you are soooo profound! :astonished: :astonished: I’m not sure why you decided to troll this thread with a judge and jury approach, but you come off as arrogant given your lack of anything but opinion.

Oh, welcome to the thankless new job, O.H. Having any regrets yet?

You know, Sillie, I think it was I who first suggested O_H as my replacement. I think someone owes someone a great big “Thank you!”…

Come on…ya big lug…smoochie-smoochie…

Thank you, Faust
And thank you, O_H =D> No regrets!
