I noticed even though labor day weekend
was upcoming and certainly one of busier
driving weekends, all the sudden for no real
apparent reason, gas prices have begun to fall.
I ponder as to what might be the reason as to
the fall of gas prices, even though nothing has
changed that I can see. And then it dawn on me,
AH, election is coming. Gas companies want lower
gas prices from here to the election, so people
won’t have a reason to vote against the village idiot.
If the GOP can steal another election, then gas prices
will suddenly and for no reason, spike back up again
because the oil companies know bushco won’t do
anything about it, but if the DEMO’S gain the house
and or the senate, they won’t raise prices because then they
will get investigated by the demo’s as price gougers.
It another sleazy business suck up to the village idiot.
welcome to their world, where you pay the cost of
oil companies doing business with the GOPhers.
Interestingly enough, the high gas prices coincide with the two biggest quarterly earnings by a U.S. Business ever. Fourth quater of 2005 earned Exxon-Mobile 10.7 billion, and first quater of 06 earned it 10.4 billion. That’s 1,318 dollars every second. They make more in a minute than the majority of American families make in a year.
Conclusion, the rencently high gas prices are the result of corporate greed.
seems like a very logical and reasonable explanation as to the recent drop in gas prices. most likely would have happened no matter the election season or not.
bishop: Energy analysts credit the early beginning of the school year and early end to vacation season that normally lasts until Labor Day, which is next weekend. Oil prices also have been declining. Yesterday, the price of premium crude plummeted $1.90 to $70.61 a barrel in New York trading after the threat to Gulf Coast oil fields and refineries from Tropical Storm Ernesto was downgraded.
Ernesto was “a whole lot of fuss about nothing, so the price is coming down,” said William Adams, chief energy strategist at LaSalle Futures Group Inc.
What was expected to be an active hurricane season this year was greatly anticipated in the oil market and drove up prices at the beginning of the summer, so the lack of destructive storms is causing an “overreaction” on the down side, he said.

K: um, I don’t think so. think about it this way. If you could
get away with ripping off 78 billion dollars which is the
EXTRA amount, not the usual, the extra amount the
oil companies made in the last year without any
possibility of being caught, wouldn’t you do it?
Oil companies are in the business of making money,
and if you could make more money, you would do what
it took and THEY DID. So any excuse to hold back production
or change perceptions to create higher price is just peachy.
because it cause higher prices, which creates UHHHH, extra profit.
If by closing down a oil refinery you can jack up profits, bonus
points. And that is the name of the game, boosting up profits.
I point out the oil pipeline in Alaska that suddenly got shut
down because of maintenance! and the oil company said that they
had no idea, but the problem was discovered 5 MONTHS earlier,
but they waited until summer so they could maximize profits. The
name of the game. I think you need to rethink the idea that
oil companies would NEVER think about fixing oil prices.
They are the sleaziest scumbags on earth.
B: seems like a very logical and reasonable explanation as to the recent drop in gas prices. most likely would have happened no matter the election season or not."
K: oil companies and the GOPhers love people like you.
accept whatever they say at face value and never
look deeper. Look beyond the lies and see them for
the liars they are. The election of course had nothing to
do whatsoever with falling gas prices, OF COURSE,
and I have a bridge to sell you, really cheap.
It would be a great bargain for the person who
can achieve a vision of greatness.
ooo too bad… gas prices falling before the election…
terrible republican plot… life gets easier for the voters and they won’t be pissed off at bush to vote democRAT… if only the democRATS were in charge… they’d raise gas tax to make sure gas costs $4.00 a gallon and then blame the evil republicans…
what company isn’t out there to make money???
the comparisons between any other big corporation and an oil company run nearly parallel. cutting supply too far back will cut into profits regardless of price. eventually they will lose money by restricting the supply too much.
you’re assuming a lot. first, that i accept whatever they say at face value. i look deeper into nearly everything stated. but i’m not going to make allegations where no evidence supports it. i’m not into conspiracy theories. we can play partisan games 'til the day we die and not ever figure out the truth. sometimes though, the simple answer is the right one. show me evidence.
second, that the explanations for gas price fluctuations always come from “gas companies.” plenty of non-biased experts and economists have stated similar responses.
third, that all the gas companies are working together. there is competition among them despite OPEC regulations. it’s a business, just like any other. each company trying to make the most profit they can which means stealing business away from their competitors.
and finally, do we have to call them liars? i mean really, for any big corporation isn’t it sort of a given? despite them looking out for no one but their own bottom line, an outside party can tell the truth … like maybe the “chief energy strategist at Lasalle Futures Group inc.?”
