Obama's expectations

As an old dude, I cannot remember a incoming president having such high
expectations. I am old enough to remember nixon in 68 and all the way through
today, I don’t remember a president coming into the white house with such baggage,
domestically and foreign. Domestically it is clear that you have the right wing
who are convinced that obama is the anti-Christ, a Muslim, a socialist, all of the
above. One the left and center, where reason prevails, the long list of dire problems
left by the bush administration forces the left and center to hope that obama doesn’t
just continue to dig us into a deeper hole. right now, just breaking even sounds pretty
good, little less actually getting ahead of the game. Outside of the U.S, the bush legacy
has so tarnished the U.S that most of the world actively rooted for Obama. It seems that
most of the world wants obama to succeed which creates expectations that seem very
hard to reach. in a post 9/11 world, cowboy diplomacy clearly isn’t the way to go.
Uniting with our allies, and presenting a united front over such issues as terrorism, will
go a long way toward bringing back a safer, more united world.
These expectations on obama are high, but the cost of failure is higher.
