October surprise

I am a bit under the weather, so hang with me,
I have spent the last couple of days with a head cold
and have time to think. Here is what will happen in
October or September, just before the election,
Suddenly the village idiot will announce that they
are bringing the troops home in 200_ whatever.
This is some sad, sick ploy to get people to vote GOP in
November. This is the only way the GOPhers can win
this election by creating some huge lie. And then after
the election, they will announce that the conditions have changed
and they can’t bring the troops home. I can almost guarantee
this will happen. There is no end to the GOPhers lies and
cynicism.

Poor little.

They make me a sad, assassination-hungery panda.

Hi Kropotkin,

But did you catch what Pace and Abizaid said last Thursday?

And, British Ambassador to Iraq, William Patey, speaking last week

“The prospect of a low intensity civil war and a de facto division of Iraq is probably more likely at this stage than a successful and substantial transition to a stable democracy.”

Regards,
Michael

Once again your thread is political and not philosophical…this is becoming boring peter!

K: Iraq has been in the midst of a civil war
for over 6 months now and still the administration
can’t admit it. It is a shame.

K: two things. 1: I did not post it in the philosophical thread, I
posted it in the proper area for political thought

  1. DON’T READ ME. If I bore you, DON’T READ ME.
Don’t ask to ban me, don’t call me an idiot, don’t
call for a jihad, simply don’t read me."

Hi Peter,

Based solely on intuition I disagree with your opinion that the GOP will announce a promised return of troops by such and such a date. They have other manuevers to manipulate the publics perception to utilize before they would consider risking that type of risky overt deception IMO. I think, although many Americans are tiring of the burden of an unsuccessful venture in Iraq, that there is still a strong majority that continue to believe there is little or no alternative (like Clinton and Lieberman) than to stick it out and continue to slog through the miasma, and quagmire of the oh so necessary field of conflict.

We can all thank Karl Rove for pioneering the art of political blood sport. He was the first to glue glass to the gloves if you know what I mean.
