Ode to the World's Passing Day

A Little AABB - Ode to the World’s Passing Day

There are those above and those below
Each prompting something to grow.
Each making of what they see
Nurturing the seed to become the tree.

Great people, great nations, new ideas arose to their height
Technology even still advancing beyond sight.
Philosophy overwhelmed by new hope filled Science
And after great wars into new world alliance.

As greatness of day reaches its peak
Heart and mind loses sight of the bleak.
Yet still true nothing fails like success
The devil in the shadows they fail to address.

So many fields of grain abound.
And now a gloom felt all around.
The harvest all but run.
As Moon overtakes the Sun.

Another day has passed
All things were expected to last.
Many new things were found
Now all cut down to the ground.

What hope lay in tomorrow
What resource worth the borrow.
What effort worth the enduring
In clear sight of so much undoing.

Low is felt the coming time
It all seems so clearly a crime.
Life thwarted to a still
Empty hearts now lost of their fill.

Such pervasive gloom
Such a sense of doom.
Such relentless digression
Toward such dangerous depression.

Oncoming loss tempts urge to fight
The cold cruel hand that brings the night.
So disheartening to just let it fall
Anger tempted at the cause of it all.

But time to just rest perhaps
Reflecting on all that has passed.
Thoughts of so much more to have done
And time lost not spent in the Sun.

Such is just the way of life it seems
Truly our conscious only but dreams.
Thinking we see in day and only blind at night
But even awake never beholding true light.

Perhaps now to just look down and away
The darkness is long here to stay.
Give no tend to the rising Moon
Such deep deep loss felt all too soon.

Silence deep inside the mind
Humble hopes that fate will be kind.
Cast low the heart and the eyes
Wondering if anything will ever rise.

Waiting waiting - becoming the gloom
All but ready to lay in the tomb.
How seemingly cruel life must be
But anything beyond the grave to see?

Long from now there will be a new light.
But life too short to partake in the sight.
However those before continued their best?
What manner of heart beats through the test?

Ah now I see the scope of it all
How it is that life endures the fall.
It’s in that seed that came to be tree
Truly all lives are but another of me.

Now thinking purpose of life made clear
It’s certainly not just diverting the fear.
And pursuing grand hopes cannot be the way
Rather persistently enjoying each moment each day.

Pursuing what little that can be done
Instilling effort with a little more fun.
Attending carefully so as to be sure
Even bleakest night much easier to endure.

What each day will bring - just a guess
Still attempt to proceed none the less.
Expectations are notably unwise
Just know that every intent faces demise.

A truly great day has passed
Treacherously long shadows are cast.
A truly dark night at the shore
Righteous suspicion just at the door.

Best to just say yes I know
Not bothering to be its foe.
And think of the good of before
Fearing the issue no more.

Tis wise to embrace the moonlight
There is no fruit from a fight.
Instead a little fun into the new
Even while knowing the light is untrue.

Some day a dawn will come
And along with it a true Sun.
So until that day destine to arise
Persistent fun shall divert my demise.

Now grateful for each passing day
Never wanting that any should stay.
The nights shall come and Moons to deceive
But the worry of such I can now relieve.

And if everyone could keep light in their heart
Perhaps the fall to night could never start.
But regardless of any foolishness they do
To the joy in the living I remain pure and true.

To all those above and all those below
And all those seeds that you sow.
Reflect upon seed that grows to tree
And realize it’s just reflection of thee.

A poem? If so, this should be moved to the Creative Writing or Arts and Entertainment section to be properly appreciated.

Besides, we’ll need an actual context. :sunglasses:

Being about the state of the world and a philosophy concerning it - I thought maybe here was best - toss up.
