Official IQ thread...

Have you ever had your IQ officially tested? By official, I mean by recognized tests. So what test was it?

According to WAIS-3 (weschler adult intelligence test scale) I am 110.

The iq would be more interesting with more info about the person alongside it. We could see correlations between iq, occupation, income, etc.

age: 22
iq: 145 (WAIS-3 child scale(?), age 10)
what he does with it: grad student in applied math at the University of Michigan. I teach calculus and do math research, going for a PhD.
it brings in: $20,000 a year.
why philosophy: i’ve always liked language and thinking deeply/obsessing about things, so philosophy comes naturally to me.

Age: 37
Testing body: Mensa
Age tested: 27
IQ: 127 (taken whilst my son was terminally ill: which meant I weren’t fully focused, so it’s probably much higher  I asked before I sat the test)
I earn plenty, and am in advertising: the production side: not the design side: even though I studied Art/Design.

141 — forget the test though, sorry. It was in school if that helps.

WISC; 154.

No doubt, actually, we could probably do better, does anyone have a copy of their tests and the remarks made the tester?

WISC - 31 #-o

Where would I go to take a standardized test?

I remember reading the remarks after I took the test and finding them interesting. I usually do significantly better on the verbal side than on the performance side of the test. They weren’t actually that interested in my IQ though, they were mostly giving me Rorschach blot and tell-a-story kind of tests to assess my mood. I remember that they thought I tended to give things a conflict-ridden interpretation. That’s all I can remember…

It’d be fun to take a battery of these tests again and see what they say about me now. I would expect all the math I’ve done has boosted my performance side somewhat. And I think I’m not as fucked up personality-wise as I was when I was 10. Or at least fucked up in different ways than before. I wonder if I can get my insurance to cover this…

Just go see a registered psychologist

IQ tests are lame. I only say this, however, because I’m no longer any good at them.

Hi to All,

My IQ was measured at 147. I was 8 years old and failing every subject imaginable.

My parents thought I was retarded and so had me tested. The tester convinced them that it was wrong to reveal the score so I was left to think I was “slow”.

Anyway, I think that the only reasonable conclusion on this thread is that the average IQ in the twin cities metro area of Minnesota is 146.

If you’re still interested… you should go get retested under the Weschler Adult intelligence scale. IQ scores are not comparable across different tests really.

I found the that they are getting better and they help you find your weaknesses, where you processs data badly … for me it’s in storing long paragraphs of auditory information… I am really slow there.

I’ll find my test and put some of the remarks up for everyone to see, I’m sure it will be interesting!
