I’ve been really enjoying Eraser lately. It’s a really cool, alt-electronica introspective/confessional type album with some really cool groves. Funny thing is, I guess the guy is otherwise famous- he sings for “Radioheads”. I now see that they’re a popular band, but somehow I’ve savored Eraser without ever realize who Yorke is. Or ever really hearing his other band. Or rather, I thought I had but I think I had them confused with Coldplay.
I would certainly recommend checking out at least two, possibly three Radiohead albums. Them being: OK Computer (the album that made them famous), Kid A and The Bends. The chronological order is The Bends, followed by OK Computer and then Kid A and the progression from guitar based rock to an electronic mix is delightful.
Good to hear that Thom Yorke has established his own fan base independent of Radiohead. Suprising though that you had no idea who he was. If your into The Eraser you should definitely check out some Radiohead albums, I’m thinking you would have to at least like OK Computer and Amnesiac (for best results listen to all of their albums!).
Yes, I know, but I was referring to the chronological order of the albums I recommended. I personally wouldn’t recommend Pablo Honey, it has its moments (Lurgee comes to mind) but overall it’s not that great.
Radiohead is a strong band. Probably my favorite to come out of the 90’s music revolution.
Their lyrics are strong:
Karma police, arrest this man, he talks in maths
He buzzes like a fridge, hes like a detuned radio
Karma police, arrest this girl, her hitler hairdo, is making me feel ill
And we have crashed her party
This is what you get, this is what you get
This is what you get, when you mess with us
Karma police, Ive given all I can, its not enough
Ive given all I can, but were still on the payroll
This is what you get, this is what you get
This is what you get, when you mess with us
And for a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself
And for a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself
For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself
Perhaps. But I don’t listen to the radio much, and when I do I never listen to pop music, only art music. The only time I’d hear pop like Radioheads or Coldplay when I’m out & about would be in a grocery store or whatever.
I do listen to amplified music, but I mostly find new music from reviews in the audio rags & forums. While I’ve heard about those guys I think the only song I ever heard was “Creep.” And to be honest, I like the Richard Cheese version better.
