So far, in the short time I’ve been here, I’d say, Polemarchus
Not only is he very friendly and mature, his posts have a ton of wisdom/intellectual offerings.
2) What’s your agenda here? That is, why have you become an ILP regular?
For me, I lead something of a hermit life, so I socialize online. Here, I like to test ideas out. Most of the time I’m viewed as wrong, but its good to get another perspective. You’re all very intelligent, which I dont find much in people when I do venture out in public, so this site comes as common bonding thing.
Sometimes I wonder if I’ll meet anyone from a message board like this, but that isn’t so much an agenda as it is a flight of fancy.
I’d also add anyone who posts without regard for others (i.e. who simply say what they think without considering any potential ‘reaction’ by other posters, something I have never quite been able to do) brings about something resembling envy from me.
It’s not a very ‘sexy’ answer, but I just like message boards in general, and would rather be at a place like this, surrounded by those who can have in-depth discussions about nearly anything, opposed to forums filled with laymen and idiots.
Aww… thanks. Sometimes I feel I’m just arguing mindlessly, but I’m glad someone gets what I’m saying and enjoys reading what I post. Thanks man, you’re awesome too!
I’m not really influenced by any one poster. I must say the SIATD, Imp, Uccisore and Coberst are all very interesting to me. I don’t really have a favorite member, and I usually enjoy reading/critiquing all posts here. There’s a very wide variety of people, which I like.
I have a life in the real world. I am very busy with school, friends, my extracirriculars, and my own reading. But I like to come here to test out ideas and see what works and what doesn’t. I especially enjoy reading the posts of people who I don’t agree with, and trying to comprehend how they think. ILP is pretty much good mental excercise for me, about 15 minutes of brain activiation every couple hours.
My favorite poster is me, followed closely by Dan~. Okay, Dan~'s better. The poster with the greatest influence on me is Yopele, on those rare occasions that he posts. I know him from another board, and this was not the case then. I think he has gotten smarter, which is a good thing to do.
My agenda is total world domination, at least in my own mind. Anything else is a waste of time.
I intend to meet some of the posters on this board. I have met omar already. Planning to meet Kropotkin this fall. Planning to attend the Super-Deluxe ILP Summit Meeting Conference.
You can meet people if you try.
Truth be told, I like intelligent converstation about topics that interest me. I can have those here.
#1 phaedrus.why?simply because he confessed giving a damn about what i write.thusly,i give a damn about what he writes. the age old mirror effect. he is the only one that really confessed this so far. #2 so close to you kev. to me ILP is a tool.it has not lost it’s usefullness yet.best forum i ever been to hands down.i learned things here, and gained experience here i’d have never gained anywhere else. why?
someone long ago on an old post said people post on these forums what they’ed never tell you in person.that alone is both true and happening right now.
lol! that was exactly my thoughts about 5 years ago!
in conclution,if i’d been at any other forum,i’d have likely festered, but this one helps people to grow.it really does.thanks ben/OBW.

now that i think about it,the more (or less for that matter) that i respect a particular poster, the more influence what they write has on me because of the kind of person they are.

~Dan and or Sagesound.
Dan for your great influence and advice - sagesound well i don’t speak of you much but you are a very good role-model in some aspects i would say for myself.
(I hope nobody is offended by this)
2) What’s your agenda here? That is, why have you become an ILP regular?
i’m here to get my facts straight and my personality even more open towards people - roughly i’m only here for various other reasons.
my agenda is blank but my mind is full of many goals and desires i wish to fullfill with the help of my lifemate.nonetheless i strive towards any won battle’s with myself and lost attempts with others.
Imp, Satyr, SIATD, OG, faust, Tab, and Dan~ attracted me to this site at first and are the nuts…to me.
There aren’t very many people in the outside world who have valid opinions about philosophy, social sciences, knowledge, and stuff. I find that I often don’t have much in common with the people I know. People here have really good ideas…and can be funny too.
A meeting on the east coast sometime might be nice…I can’t afford England
Anyone can be stellar here, on any given day, or not. Sometimes, it may just be our own mood, or perspective, on a given day, as to whether a poster is brilliant or a bugger.
I have no agenda, that would require forethought and intent.
I think that most people here are great in there own way, some that i have looked up to for more “mature” advice would probably be, Tab, Bessy and LA. Imp SIATD and the Monkey are always funny and let’s not forget our resident flying super hero Dan~
I actually stumbled on to this site one day out of sheer boredom, and found it a great place to share some ideas and get some laughs.
When I first got on this site my favorite was Future_Man, I enjoy ~Dan more recently and always liquidangel. I love reading detrop’s posts, and I enjoy Mr. Tab’s posts quite often.
I’d say I enjoy pretty much everyone, I could name those who I don’t enjoy and that would be easier but that wouldn’t be very nice.
I try to avoid influence, although I can say I am impressed quite often.
I also feel like I can relate to OG quite a bit, and his general philosophy on certain aspects of life…like drugs and its not just the fact that he uses them…
