On egalitarianism

Egalitarianism is no better than aristocracy it intends to replace.

Egalitarian system advocates EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL.

Is everyone born with the same strength, same intelligence? No.

Therefore, under an egalitarian system, the Smart, Strong will prevail over the Stupid, Weak. This is a form of social Darwinism!!!

Under aristocracy, the Rich prevail over the Poor.
Under egalitarian, the Strong prevail over the Weak.

At the end of the day, there will still be people who suffers. Egalitarianism does not eliminate suffering, rather, it merely substitute one set of suffering for another.

One does not inherit social positions in Egalitarian systems as in an Aristocracy. One is socially defined by his abilities, not by his family.

are you saying a strong person can oppress a weak person simply by the virtue that he’s stronger?

one may not inherit social position, by one inherits parent’s genes. Egalitarian society is not equal.

i think the term egalitarian means everybody has the same chance for happiness.

happiness is defined differently for different people. read the “Brave New World” Bible, it describes a caste system supported by cloning people appropriate for their caste.

assuming the factory jobs arent so bad that the gammas are unhappy, this is the only way we will ever have an egalitarian society.

buddha says desire is the cause of unhappiness. if i were a factory worker i would be pissed because i know that i could do a better job than the boss and i should be his boss but cant.
if im so stupid that i hardly think im good enough for my factory job, ill be pretty happy that i have it and certainly wont worry about getting promoted into the unimaginable boss job.

the problem with a non-cloning society is that a couple of poor people who were roughly happy with their factory jobs can have a kid who is smarter than either of them and totally annoyed that his poor parents cant pay for his college.
likewise rich parents often have stupid ass kids who get unfairly hooked up right into their cushy career.

cloning utopia gets rid of that unpredictability, as well as roughly being able to better handle the ocassional abundance of workers vs dearth of jobs and vice versa. how else is this feasibly going to happen?

Would you rather the poor or the weak die?

everybody has a chance for “happiness” in capitalism, you just have to work to different goals, instead of being the strongest you have to be the smartest, the best at marketing your ideas.

the brave new world bible? You do realize Aldous Huxley was pointing out the inherent problems with such a world?

how do you define happiness? by riches? by love? riches come and go, love comes and goes. Nothing is permanent, and that is the real problem with these “alternate” systems is that they try making something permanent that is not. And the factory jobs already have perks by way of the union. Most factory workers make two to three times as much as most teachers. (about 60 - 70,000)

ah but you can, if you work hard and become educated you can become his boss. Desire is the cause of unhappiness. All life is desire.

No matter what you’ll be floating on islands of temporary happiness. Life is a rollercoaster. Just make sure when you get to the top of the happiness hill, your prepared for the drop.

not stupid, lazy.

you won’t worry about it because of your laziness. You realize that you’ll have to work harder than your willing to.

hold on a sec… There are no cloning societies.

ok now that, that is taken care of.

Aldous Huxley was against such a society.

did you read the cliff notes for brave new world or something?

you know what, then it’s up to said kid to work his ass off to go to college. Just because his parents can’t pay for it doesn’t mean he can’t work hard to get grants scholarships and loans.

who then throw the business into debt and get removed from the position and put in a position where they can’t do any harm… and honestly there aren’t many rich family companies left in this country. Name one company currently where the head of the company is the son or daughter of the founder.

as well as make us emotionless lumps of humanity like in BNW.

Who knows that’s one of the mysteries of life.

But like I said if you are overtly concerned with making money you are forever going to be chasing happiness. You’ll occasionally grab it by the tail, but then it will turn around and bite you. That’s life deal with it.

I think capitalism is the only system that rewards citizens who are not lazy. But the dark side to capitalism is that it promotes temporary material happiness. This is something personal though as to wether you choose to try and limit or enhance.

with your cloning utopia there is no reward for working hard, there is no emotional attachment to humanity because you don’t have children. There is no life. There is no art. There is no imagination.

Read the book again.
