On the Plasticity of Fascism

tx say: I totally agree, whip, and would like to add that even important words are often ill-defined or misunderstood (eg. wiki’s article on ‘fascism’ is fairly riddled with errors and contradictions, and generally not at all impressive), or simply not recognized by the ‘keepers of the english language’. For example, the word ‘sophiology’ - which has been around for decades - seems to have no place in philosophical dictionaries and encyclopedias, even though it is a real word used by many people (see wiki for details). Why these keepers actually recognize ‘LOL’ but not ‘sophiology’ is beyond me. Why it’s enough to make anyone suspect of words in general. :frowning:

Eye wouldn’t say he created fascism as such, but rather it’s more like he was the discoverer of Fascism. The one who finally put his finger on something that has been around for a long time in one form or another. If this is so, then ben’s ‘third-way’ is just a new twist on a very old hat.

An entire global civilization devoted to the consumer culture and controlled by the corporations … a truly horrible thought. The only thing worse is that we’re almost there already. So how do we put the brakes on this run-away train?

Just so. And this too:

What then is the chief characteristic of 21C fascism? It could be something as simple as the deliberate and willful abuse of power (eg. using the laws of a country in oppressive and repressive ways) combined with the deliberate and willful “demonizing” of certain specific and targeted groups of people who are seen as bad citizens that the social body would be better off without … And of course what ben said.

Just keep talking about it. Discussion is the friction of any fascist locomotive.

Discussion is not useless. It is action.

Cause what happens is this: some people will just find some excuse (usually that discussion is useless), but others are spurred into their own personal change towards taking some responsibility for themselves. Eventually, as things get more obvious, the people less able to spot the subtleties of social death are forced moreso into seeing it, and then they become the ones spurred into action. Some people are just losers. Most will come around at some point. The question is, if it will be in time. The goal is to convert as many people (especially the military) before the plutocracy of inbred psychopathic control freaks decide to use their all-or-nothing trump card, which will be a fake alien invasion, some worldwide virus, or some otherwise unbelievable thing they’ve prepped us for with the 100’s of movies along that theme.

Globalized power means that the corporations have been, behind the scenes, advancing science/technology using all the secrets of all history combined with today’s ability to build. The defining characteristic is rulership so far removed in this way. Rulership where in many ways having humans around no longer has any purpose at all, as at the heart of most fascist plans throughout history was simply to keep humanity enslaved long enough to get us to build what was needed to get to the singularity.

And now we are here.

So that’s why Bill Gates hates you, and wants to eradicate 99% of human life from the planet.

I would call fascism an institutionalized, neo-classical hatred of the human.

By this I mean:
institutionalism - it is not just a feeling, a hatred as a mere emotion, but in fascism it must be part of the laws and practices of a country, institution or organization.
neo-classical - there is an image of the correct/perfect human/family. I believe fascist have almost sculptured images deeply lithographed in their brains. Muscular, perhaps hairless bodied men who do not show fear and have chiseled faces. Men who are in control. Norman Rockwell is not so far from Nazi images. Clean lines, clear boundaries, control, seriousness, ‘nobility’. Anything the fascist sees that seem to run counter to this is evil and foul and they can get triggered into institutional violence by anythign from long hair on men to people sitting on the ground to dancing not according to rules. There is a huge terror of emotions, unclear boundaries, often strong women, and what the fascist calls chaos but much of which is just humans being humans.
