ONE NIGHT ON PATCHOULI ROW -- 6Jan. 2007

drum doctor
got all the medicine
i need

jammin’ jamaican rhythmis
as i dance away one bad case
of american blues
that got me seein’ red
‘til my knuckles turn white

maybe it’s wrong
to feel this good
w/ january warmth
more appropriate down under
but everyone’s guilty tomorrow
Sunday
enjoying the therapeutic
sidewalk music
in shorts & t-shirts

i just returned from san fran and you’re reminding me of it.

i gotta question: why the dates in the titles?

Since I write a lot, I have found that assigning dates to my poems helps me keep them organized esp’ly when I go out to readings.so, they are merely an aid to me and are not necessarily integral to the poems. Also, some of the poems I’ve posted are as much as a decade old; so, I include the date to give the audience a context in the interpretation of the poem when critiquing it.
