’ I would rahter not have a “teddy”, than having one that stays locked up in the closet, building up dust, until I can no longer recognize it, nor go near it without soffocating in the dust, and killing yourself slowly. ’

*One could interpret this simply as it reads, or see this as symbolism in relationship to other things.

One example would be replacing "teddy" with a "partner", and the closet, and dust as a distancing relationship and its obstacles.

IE. More detailed, or distance in a relationship may not be a bad thing, the extents of a relationship on the verge of “breaking up” and getting hurt a lot in comparison to not having a relationship at all.

That was the first thought that came to my mind when I read the sentence about the teddy. It brings to mind the old saying, “It’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.” I don’t particularly agree with that, because loving and losing isn’t worth the ensuing scars.
