Oscar Nominations for 2008

Best Picture Nominations:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Frost/Nixon

Milk

The Reader

Slumdog Millionaire

I don’t agree with the entire field, but SM deserves the win against any movie. Ballywood is here to stay. They just need to take their sex a little more seriously, although I can do without the obligatory formulaic bedroom scenes.

Doubt, Batman (I’m not usually a superhero fan) and Rambo should have been in there instead of Milk, Frost/Nixon and The Reader, but at least Revolutionary Road was shut out (except for best set direction or something).

Surprisingly the Academy finally listened to me (they hang on my every word y’know) and nominated all the directors from the best movies. Imagine. But they’ll probably split it for the win.

The dearly departed Mr. Ledger is a lock for best supporting actor, and he deserves it, even though Philip Seymour-Hoffman was a close runner up in Doubt.
