If lipitor goes otc then you might as well put all prescribed drugs otc…doctors can then be consultants…this is a dangerous move and shows how pharms influence our “public servants”…
Most of the medical problems nowadays could be prevented if people had good diets. Much of the problems are resultant of not getting the appropriate amount of vitamin and minerals. unfortunately even though many of the things consumed have such, many of the things themselves or other things consumed destroy the vitamins or minerals, or prevent their uptake into the system. the best diet is composed of at least 80% fruits and vegetables… it is best to just start with a healthier diet, even if one is starting late in life it helps a lot. It is best to have a good diet early on though so as to lend the conditioning to what is procreated, as well as the self functioning. Many of the man-made medicines though tested have only been tested as to their effect over relatively short periods of times, and then there is a good bit of malpractice as well. Many of the medicines if continued only worsen the issue by reducing the bodies attempts to self cure, overall over generations such can lend to a reduction in the functionality of the immune system among other issues. Things as simple as aspirin can reduce the brains natural production of anti-headache chemicals such as to reduce the capacity to self fight headaches and thus worsen those headaches if not in a single life then in generations to come if it is predominantly used by many members in those generations. Also most headaches would not come if people simply were getting their vitamins and minerals, as headaches are a common symptom of not having enough of pretty much any vitamin, as they all regulate blood issues which can effect such and many effect nerve issues as well, though more specifically vitamin C, maybe K, and Calcium, can lead to such if deficient. But then Sodium regulates blood pressure, and can be bad if taking too much or too little. Many take too much of course. unfortunately it is much more productive of wealth to have people be ignorant of nutrition and think it doesn’t matter that much, and instead produce expensive medication to fix symptoms of not getting what could be easily gotten by just spending money on the right foods. Overall if these issues were fixed it could lead to a severe reduction in the medical industry. (if you want more info on nutrition and diet I’m glad to talk about it, I know a good bit, but I don’t know it all…)
I would take lipitor off the market, i would take most drugs off the market, or at least off over the counter marketing, unless it was shown that one had no other possibility of overcoming the situation through diet, or some more sure way to health.
I don’t know for certain, it is plausible that by taking the drug it may induce further negative genetic disposition in future generations (by reduction of self immunity), wherein then it might be more plausible for those past the age of procreation to partake when needed…IDK (whereas alteration in diet or environment (which can include diet I guess) could lend to reduction in the disposition down the road, for the self to a degree, and lend to the children as well, not to mention habit of such lends to habit growth in others and children.)
Lipitor is often prescribed along with diet and exercise for people at risk for either heart attack or stroke. To make it OTC would mean people would have to be able to self-diagnose. Can they, given most people’s non-recognition of the symptoms of either heart attack or stroke.
Drugs and by-pass surgery are the most over-used treatments for heart attack–but they don’t attack the cause. As Abstract says, this can only really be done through diet and exercise. Can diet and exercise mitigate age. Probably–at least to a certain extent.
Abstract has been concerned with whether or not the use of drugs will effect evolution–will analgesics to relieve pain, for example, ultimately overcome our evolutionary, ‘natural’ sources of pain relief?
I guess that depends. Aspirin was introduced by the Bayer Company as an analgesic during WWI–it also relieved fever. This led to the many deaths–especially among children–to the flu epidemic of 1918. Fever is needed to ‘kill the bugs.’
Have we forgotten that a high temperature can be relieved by tepid baths? Sounds like folk-lore, doesn’t it? But it works.
There’s a lot of folk-lore that works. We just don’t believe that it does. We want the quick fix, so we turn to drugs. After all, all we have to do with drugs is take the pill, capsule or lozenge–no work, no sweat–science will take care of us–just as God takes care of us.
Yes the irony is that once one gets into the habit of doing the “work” it becomes enjoyable, contenting, satisfying, and fucking fun. I’m not much of one for working out recently but dieting appropriately is amazing, once one gets eductated on all the healthy foods out there it is rediculous. People don’t have to worry about specific diets and severe restriction, dieting is simple.
If your going to eat meat don’t let it be more than 20% of your daily intake,
Eat any fruits and vegetables you want, when you want, don’t forgett nuts and legumes
and just keep it in variation, don’t stick with eating any one thing too much, come back to what you like but don’t get repetitious, variation is healthy and freedom. (their are sooooooooo man ytypes of fruits and vegitables, and nuts can hold alot of vitamins and what not, onebrazil nut a day has a full days worth of selinium (good for fighting testicular cancer))
Avoid salt though, and addeded sugar, which is in most fruits anyways.
Milks and cheseses are good to a degree, though they can be done without according to some.
And then just look into fruits and vegitable to see what they provide in terms of vitamins and minerals, the pomegranite is amazing, it holds about every thing other than about one or 2 vitamins…sun flower seeds are amazing…
That is about all you need to know, literally, beyond additional research if you are interested…
Its easy, and fruits are fricken tasty, so are cucumbers…mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The irony is that they suggest eating better while doing lipator, that should definently be mandatory, and I imagine that lipitor might help people get back on track so then they can just do the right eating, but then right eating to begin with, is all that is needed pretty much except in the rare cases mostly involving getting bugs. Dieting while on lipitor kinda seems like take one med to counteract the bad of another…and it may be that the dieting is what is doing most of the work to begin with.
edit: I should add that in eating healthy even given eating vegitables and fruits it is still good not to gorge the self snack on stuff on whatever nts are great, but stick to 3 normal meals worth portions per day, though I don’nt think it matters much when you eat or that you eat 3 sepcific meals a day just don’t eat a shit tun, which honestly seems harder to do anyways with natural foods…
and as for meats pork is not that healthy but liver is the king of meats, it has possibly every nutrient, and if it is missing one it is missing like one…and of course most fish is healthy.
how about the attempt to get lipitor otc…
i think it demonstrates what the pharms think about patients…there are some studies that may mean that there are some serious risks…and there are challenges to the cholesterol theory…
and i agree that everyone needs to be taking care
of what they stick in their mouth and how much they move…the days of the doc being in charge of health are over… each one of us is in charge of ourselves…
Yeah I would think tht before one goes to a medical doctor they should go to a nutrisionist, absolutely, then if the nutritionist suggests you to go to a medical doctor THEN DO IT, and of course if the nutrition isn’t working after a good while and time has been given for it to work then I guess the discision is that persons…
But yeah making lipitor OTC is insane, it just goes to show how glitery gold blinds.
