Religion is not all about prayer. There are many religions that does not involve prayer. Though people who take philosophy seriously does not pray to Kant at night, but they nevertheless accept everything he says for they take him seriously as the last word in everything. They quote him, admire him, worship him.
No that is the point of a free thinker. A serious reader of philosophy listens to the philosophers but never questions. For example, the academic, they owe their life to Plato, Kant, Hegel, so naturally they would only criticise but never destroy them. They preach what the idiots said to the stupid students. isn’t that a little absurd?
then that depends on what you mean by incomprehensible. I mean, the mind of an alcholic is incomprehensible, but that does not make the stuff in it worth knowing.
All thoughts are his correspondingly meant all your thoughts are yours also. to listen and obey others is to live your life in someone else’s shoes.
I am quite aware of the fame, personality worship that goes on. I read their books, and they have not said anything worth reading. see facault, in his Madness and Civilization, he is basically describing his version of Insanity, which is not philosophical at all. I would not call history philosophy.
“Everything has its ugliness but not everyone sees it.” - PoR
Isn't free thinking a philosophy? The second statement is false - if this was true, philosophy would never develop or change, and new ideas would never be created, including ideas such as capitalism and humanism.
I agree. That, however, is not the nature of philosophy.
Free thinker through free thinking create philosophy.
Students of free thinkers can not claim to be free thinkers themselves for they follow the philosophy. there is a big difference between creators and followers.
tell me, since when did academics attempt at destroying Kant? why is Kant still taught? when you teach someone elses’ writings you are placing him above you. If I say Kant is rubbish, they would definately fail me, and all they do is explain Kant, like the priests who explain Jesus. Did Kant really say something so important? apart from spending an entire book on what is essentially a one liner?
The study of philosophy is to learn from the philosophers, i.e living in their shoes, very different from free thinking.
if insanity is philosophy, then all is philosophy and all are philosophers. if you attempt to distinguish philosophy from other displines, it involves a process of indoctrination. the philosopher basically says something stupid, and all have to ponder its profoundness, it is like making something valuable out of a fart. rather ridicuolous. Philosophy always goes, Kant said this, Hume said that… right??? so you are basically following the thoughts of Kant and Hume, see the new Sympomisn thing.
what is philosophy but a collection of a bunch of idiots nonsense, compiled into books to read? In this world, we interact with the inanimate matter and animate kingdom and man. I don’t see how they said anything revolutionary the commoners do not understand already. as long as thy are men, they are bound by the rules of men.
