pantheism?

i want to know if the subject of pantheism is appropriate for the religion forum…for discussion…

Pantheism - is that the official religion of cooks and bakers?

Of course. So is pandeism, as well as panentheism/deism.

Why not? Isn’t religion in actually about spirituality?

Those who dwell…among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction. Rachel Carson

A knowledge of the existence of something we cannot penetrate, of the manifestations of the profoundest reason and the most radiant beauty - it is this knowledge and this emotion that constitute the truly religious attitude; in this sense, and this alone, I am a deeply religious man.
Albert Einstein The World as I See It

I believe in the cosmos. All of us are linked to the cosmos. So nature is my god. To me, nature is sacred. Trees are my temples and forests are my cathedrals
Mikhail Gorbachev

Every seed is awakened and so is all animal life. It is through this mysterious power that we too have our being and we therefore yield to our animal neighbours the same right as ourselves, to inhabit this land.
Sitting Bull

Larry King: Do you believe in God?
Stephen Hawking: Yes, if by God is meant the embodiment of the law of the universe.
Larry King Live, December 25, 1999

Stephen Hawking

A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge.
Carl Sagan Pale Blue Dot

We are enabled to apprehend at all what is sublime and noble only by the perpetual instilling and drenching of the reality that surrounds us. We can never have enough of nature.
Henry David Thoreau

I’m a pantheist from way back…even when i was a christian, i was more pantheist.
I was often actually accused of being one - as if …
I mean what is one’s religion except one’s self in relationship to …
…In my case, nature and the universe? Now that is a presence and reality that one may truly relate to …listen to, be guided and taught by, be astounded by, stand in awe of, and seek to know the truths of…among other things…

Pantheism may be so much more all-inclusive than christianity, etc. at least to me.

Yep.

I’ve had pantheistic leanings since college. Theistic=religious. What of panentheism?

how do you compare these beliefs------these isms…

I have this to say about pantheism:

If you have what you think is God and then that which you think is other than God, then isn’t that system of God and other, as a whole, greater than God? And is not God most definitly that which is ultimate, so it would seem that in order to be ultimate God would have to be everything.
One might say that God can do anything and so could be less than every thing but I would show this mathematical idea: Say God is infinite and thus for lack of a better symbol say the infinite and thus God is represented by 8 then say that the other is infinitly represented by a finite number, techniclly you could use any number but lets say 1. In mathematics if you add anything to the infinite you still have the infinite. So in terms of there being to seperate things one of which is God, the sum of those two things would still be God so it would seem fair to say God is everything and thus assert that Pantheism is accurate and may verywell not conflict with any other idea of God. 8+1=8 where 8 is infinity.

Pantheism–God exists in all things. Panentheism–things are emanations of God.
