A figure was seen recently in Mar’s surface that some believed was a life form. Astronomers have concluded that it is nothing but a pile of rocks. Part of the article I was reading said that "The reason many people see a figure on the Martian landscape is the same reason that people see faces in clouds, Rorschach blots, and coffee stains. This phenomenon, called pareidolia, is well known in psychology, and it is the cause of many supposedly mysterious and miraculous events (including the famous “Jesus in the Tortilla”).
We see what we want to see and also see what we expect to see when there is nothing but the experience of our biography to limit us. We never have encountered an actual martian life form so we project onto this big unknown what we think life in mars should be like…no wonder, the figure that gave rise to all this speculation is humanoid. Just as people see Jesus or the Virgin Mary in all places, so we see human forms everywhere as well…perhaps even in God. Did God create us in His image or did we create God in our image?
If God created us in his image, then that means that God must be immoral, unclean, promiscuous, unintelligent, and bigoted and also have superfluous organs like nipples, and an appendix that can spontaneously explode and kill him.
If we created God in our image, then that means that humans must be immoral, jealous, bullying, obsessed with male foreskin, sexist, racist, illogical, and evil… oh yes and scientifically unverifiable to the point of probably not even being real.

Occam’s Razor needs to step in and trim the fat a little bit here.
Which is most likely?
A) a Martian (which we’ve never discovered so we have nothing to compare it to)
B) a human walking around on the surface of the planet (the funding for such a thing to take place would not only be astronomically high, but also impossibly kept secret by the media
C) a pile of rocks that looks like a human (which has happened countless times right here on our planet in things like clouds, trees, rocks, water spray patterns on the sides of churches, star formations, and even grilled cheese sandwiches)
The answer is obviously A) a Martian, because… be…cause… i want it to be.
