Pax Vitae (Jon) has decided to leave the ILP Staff team after years of service to the site. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the time and effort he has put in, not only with moderating and staff discussion but for his massive contribution to the site design and coding.
Cheers Jon, I hope you’ll stick around in a philosophical capacity,
I think Pax Vitae was faithful to the spirit of ILP. He did his best to apply the rules in his moderation of the many ILP members and tried to be as fair as he understood the rules would allow.
I personally thank Pax for all his efforts in contributing to make ILP a site worth watching, a site worth visiting. Best wishes to you Pax and I hope to see you around the forums.
I would also like to thank Pax. I for one never encountered any problems with him in his role as moderator, and it’s somewhat sad that he’s been hounded out by the wolves…
The frustration get’s to all of us at times. There isn’t anyone on staff that hasn’t had second (in my case, 23) thoughts about what we’re doing here. I hope you will reconsider. Your absence will leave a large hole…
No one understands this more than me… of course, I would never dream of being a mod, nor would I be asked (considering my appetite for silly and inane behavior). You are human. I hope you will reconsider because you have had a very positive influence here. They need you - please stay, Jon.
Just to clarify: I’ve had my problems with some of Pax’s decisions. I’ve had a problem with just about every moderator’s decisions at one time or another. I even think that some of the moderators are hypocrites, although, I can concede that they perhaps are FORCED to do so in the spirit of abiding by forum guidelines.
I still appreciate the efforts of every single member of ILP to contribute, to create, to learn. et al. Pax may have made mistakes, but most of them were in an effort to help create a better environment. He was a better moderator than I could ever be because I doubt that I have a sense of fairness.
Thanks a bunch and a half for everything you’ve done here. While the quality waxes and wanes, there will always be this space in which things can be said, which will have your mark on it for as long as ilp exists. Everyone will be hugely grateful for what you’ve done, and no amount of twittering will ever take away from the potential that is the ilp space.
Seems many of the ‘original’ (sort-of) members have left or else no longer post. Sad to see this slow exodus, but, I suppose, that’s what it’s all about.
All the best to you in the paths you take henceforward!
