Personality Tests

So I took this personality test and basically it said that I was a --put simply–a nicey thinker type and I have no personality traits of those that financially successful people have—so I am worried, am i doomed to be a failure???

‘financially successful people’ -you mean those people who wear tight suits and robotically run all day through neon-lit corridors so that they can catch the morning fax, just so they can earn a week’s vacation once per year in Bahamas, where they can pretend that the money they earn has made them happy ? You want to be like them ?

Nope. An awareness of your weaknesses can be an advantage. Knowing where you lack can inform you of where you must do the most work at self improvement. It can show where you would benefit the most from coordinating your efforts with those who are highly skillful. Hardly anybody is talented in every area.

Those that have those sort of successful Type A personalities have been that way since birth-- they have spent a lifetime learning how to control, manipulate and run over people, I just dont have those skills.

Count your lucky stars! You read the Bible, remember the part about the camel and the eye of the needle? That’s all you need to know.

BTW, which test did you take? Sounds like the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).

The MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) is a great test, but it is proprietary knowledge, and thus a paid test, so I guess it is something else.

Sorry for the serial posts, my 2 year old is “helping” me.

no, it was another test in a book I read, the author made it up.

nicely put mucius! i was laughing internally!

and PG:thanks for adding replys to your questions!it’s an improvment in my books. =D>

PG,

As Mucius alluded to, there are 2 types of ‘success’

 1. Capitalistic

 2. Personal

Personally… I strive for… personal

Is your monkey drinking root beer?

That’s not my monkey… that’s me.

And yes, he’s drinking… root… beer.

Why are you so obbsessed with the idea that money realy matters? It doesnt matter how much money we have, we will never be satisfied with what we have. We will always want that little extra and when we get that little extra it feels the same whether we are rich or not. A poor family will feel the same levels of delight at buying a black and white TV as a richer family might have buying a plasma tv. Happiness doesnt lie in money, happiness is the same however much money you have. Happiness is in a balanced life of work, relationships, family, health and hobbies/activities. Some times money helps, but it isnt the ultimate answer.

I’m suprised that no-one has pointed out that most of those personality tests are absolute bunk because they’ll always be trying to sell something.

I took one on the Scientology homepage that concluded that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Having had my nervous breakdown the year prior to taking the test I felt validated in rubishing the conclusion. For the record, I’ve yet to have another. It concluded, of course, that Dianetics could save my life. I’ll see if I can dig up the graph that was produced.

I assume the test is to try and find if the participant actually has a personality?

No worries. People overemphasize personality. Personality isn’t that important, it’s good looks that matter.

Any personality test, even professional ones, are only as good as the definition given to each question and the definition of personality as a whole provided by the designers of the test.

So, each test is just a way to prove the philosophy of the test creators. It they have one that represents our reality great, but if they don’t then it’s just weirdness.

Yeah this test was written by a woman who came up with 4 different personality types, put simply–niceys, aggressive, thinker and popular…and the test was to see where you fit in amongst those four groups.
