Something given cannot be given unless taken.
What do you mean Trixie? It’s possible. You can use the word ‘give’ in place of ‘take’. It can be called giving and giving back.
A better word to have used here Trixie is “offered”. Makes more sense.
“Something given” implies that it has already been taken.
What about Fumbles?
I personally don’t know what fumbles are. You mean the fumbles which occur in football? - I think that’s what they’re called - when the player drops the ball. 
I wouldn’t know where to begin in that context.
Well, those guys may fumble the ball but they will sometimes recover it. So in that case, they have indeed taken it or re-taken it.
