I made a thread on logic and realized it doesn’t really fit anywhere, so I stashed in Mundane Babble.
What if in “Other Forums” you put “Academy” or the like for the sake of any threads that are strictly about learning and not doing. Honestly, I doubt it would get that much attention. But you never know.
I would definitely check that out. I don’t have as deep a philosophy background as most of the members here; the main reason I come here is to read and learn. I saw the thread on logic you posted, Gaiaguerrilla, and I’ll be watching that with great interest. I hope the “Academy” idea pans out.
I think that’s a really good idea. I was waiting for a moment in that thread where I could contribute something reasonable. I’ll go check it right now.
Well, there are already a couple options for this sort of thing. First of all, there’s Symposia, which can be a good place for posting/reading things that are more information- and less discussion-oriented.
Alternatively, there’s the Essays and Theses forum, which is designed to house more stand-alone content.
Down the line, I think a wiki would compliment the boards quite nicely. When I get the hang of the whole website thing down pat, I’ll work on adding one.
We also already have the “Philosophical Texts Archive” thread in the philo forum that no one uses. Kinda the same idea, isn’t it? Except the suggestion here is to give an entire forum to a topic that can barely carry its own thread. (No offense, of course; it’s a fine idea in theory.)
