Philosophy and gynophobia

Why is it that philosophy seems to go hand-in-hand with a certain amount of vitriol aimed at the fairer sex?

Nietzsche and Confucius came from families consisting most of, and dominated by females. I’m unsure about Nietzsche, but Confucius also (ironically) lacked a strong father figure. So, their famous dislike of women is relatively easy to explain.

But others? And why does it continue? Are we merely aping the worst aspects of some great philosophers?

It the current trend merely an outgrowth of the Judeo-Christian beliefs that permeate Western thought?

And what are we to do about it?

i’m catholic but rarely go to church, religion is a personal matter and i try my best to remove any bias or prejudice before reading any work. if you approach any work without any initial beliefs you get a more genuine understanding of where their coming from.
