Philosophy. The noble path.

In Philosophy I can, must, and do, present a lie as truth.
If I must show a truth then I can call it a lie; if it is my pleasure, for I have earned it.

This noble approach to Philosophy weeds out insincerity. For there are no opinions or truths in Philosophy, no knowledge, beliefs or facts. Those who seek them will burn.

Then, Truth is not my business here, and those who look to me for it will be knocked to the floor. There is no tear for them in the eye of this philosopher.

Being insincere weeds out insincerity…Well, perhaps that makes sense and I’m just not getting something.

You are getting it just fine.

"Beware of suffering for the truth’s sake! Even of defending yourselves! …as though ‘the truth’ were such an innocuous and incompetent creature as to require protectors! and you of all people, you knights of the most sorrowful countenance, dear loafers and cobweb-spinners of the spirit!..you know that there might be a more laudable truthfulness in every little question mark that you place after your special words and favorite doctrines (and occassionally after yourselves) than in all the solemn gestures and trumps before accusers and law courts. Rather, go away. Flee into concealment. And have your masks and subtlety, that you may be mistaken for what you are not, or feared a little. And don’t forget the garden, the garden with golden trelliswork.

"Within the fanatical defence of vested illusions there may be a sacrificial respect for things beyond us, whatever those secret realities may be; and the martyr that on earth is ready to die for some false opinion may be judged in heaven to have died for the truth. The very absurdity of a tenet, or its groundlessness, at least proves that imagination is at work, and groping for an issue from animal darkness. At least the category of truth has been set up. Appearances, innocent and perfectly real in themselves, have begun to be questioned and discounted as deceptive; and this not merely against the blank background of a posited substance, known only as a force, but in contrast to a possible and more adequate description of that substance and of the manner in which it produces appearances. Intelligence has begun the pursuit of truth.

"...Matter in any one of its moments and in any one of its atoms offers no foothold for consciousness: but let certain tropes and cycles be established in the movement of matter, let certain kinds of matter cohere and pulse together in an organism, and behold, consciousness has arisen. Now tropes, cycles, organisms, and pulsations, with all the laws of nature, are units proper to the realm of truth; units that bridge the flux of existence and are suspended over it, as truth and spirit also are suspended."

G. Santayana, Realms of Being 515-17 (The Realm of Truth: Love and Hatred of Truth)

You are not getting it flannel, he is fucking with you. If there is any meaning in anything he says, it was by accident or you’re misinterpreting him. Stop feeding this troll. I propose this be moved to the rant forum where it belongs.

If there’s no truth, why must you show it? Is this an opinion or a fact? Why even post on a philosophy board?

Reason is always a space carved out of the irrational. ~Deleuze

Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment. Cleverness is mere opinion, bewilderment is intuition. ~Rumi

Those who idolize “facts” never notice that their idols only shine in a borrowed light. ~Heidegger
