some of the better photos i have taken

comments? (i don’t really know if this thread is for posting things to be reviewed or for things you are reviewing, but i assume it works both ways.)

forum, not thread. i don’t know if that’s how this FORUM works.

dang it i wasn’t logged in… those are mine

why does it let you post if you’re not logged in?

No offense, but I would like to contest your last two photos.

You call these some of the best photographs you have ever taken, but I would say that the last two are far from being artistic at all. They are somewhat void of meaning. They don’t seem to express much, and I can’t derive any symbolism from either. Not even the potential for something that is yet to take shape, like in the first one. Looking at them is like looking at a blank wall, really… a mix of details, lack of a proximum point, no symetry, no asymetry, no central object, no distinction between background and foreground, no object to captivate your attention. No feeling emerges from them, if you catch my point… no artistic shiver. I’m sorry, I just can’t force myself into liking them. I can’t even force myself into disliking them. They leave me rather indifferent, and this is the ultimate executioner for art. They won’t do, try harder.

no offense taken, rather, i welcome the criticism. as long as it’s done correctly (which it was).

i like the next to last one myself, but the last one isn’t one of my favorites. i liked it at first but now i’m just like “yeah whatever”. the first one i also don’t care for too much but the lady at wal-mart made me sign a copy of it for her so i guess some people like it. the third one i also like except it has a GIANT light spot right in the middle so i dunno.

i have some more but they’re not scanned in.

I think the first three look really good, 4, 5 and 6 don’t look good and the last two are good subjects but do seem like they were taken haphazardly, and don’t focus on anything in particular. If the last picture had the building off to the side it would look like a landscape, and if it was looking directly at the building, or from more of a symmetrical angle it would seem like a photo of the building, but as it is it looks like the camera went off by accident.

I hope this doesn’t sound like I was being negative, that’s just what I think when I look at them. I reakon 2 and 3 could be used commercially by the way.

Nice photos. Those stone buildings look great in B&W

those are breathtaking! i especially love the ones of the city- where is that?

on the contrary, the lst one is absolutely gorgeous! look how the house wears away into the darkness, and how crystal clear the light part is. all art speaks, either softly until you can bearly hear it, or so loud that it screams. i personally appreciate subtlty in art

it’s indianapolis

and it’s a church… yeah that one didn’t turn out like i expected it to… it’s kinda crooked, just ever so slightly

i’ll see if i can get some more scanned in… some earlier photos, they’re not as good

also they’ll have a border cause i developed them at school

CI, thank you for sharing these with us.

These pictures often show a bleak civil mood.
I am an artist to, and see value in these.

I doubt any of you are musicians, though.

i sing, i don’t know if that makes me a musician

here’s some more to add to the pile

The second pic, of the ball of branches…

Reminds me of civilization… humanity…

A mass of what has been torn out of the earth below…
Tied together in a mess…
It is a nest…
And the babies inside of this nest…
Is the emotion only known as “fear”.

really? it reminds me of andy goldsworthy

but truth is, i found it like that. it’s just the bottom of a fallen tree where the roots were twisted together
