Since the military draft is a hot topic in the U.S. due to the current status of us being at war and all, I was wondering how Plato would view the draft if it were reinstated. Would he resist conscription or join as soon as the government called him into action?

Guess that would depend on what point in his life such a hypothetical were to occur. After Socrates’ death, I can’t see Plato dying for or defending Athens… be it the Athens controlled by the rich or the populace in general. Then again, much like Socrates, he would feel obligated to follow the law (or else leave).
Short answer, he would move to Canada.
