poem: diamond

(for rebecca)

Discovered in the temple of the soul,
That small room where messengers sit and share their wordless dialog…

My love for you is a diamond.
It is shedding its light silently.
It is cool and bright.
It floats, stately and majestic above the earth.

It is strong and nearly indestructible.

It opens doors to other worlds.
Through it I could access almost anywhere.
It is brilliant, almost blinding
Nor ordinary eye can gaze directly upon it.

Yet it is kind and merciful.
It sends forth good will and peace.

It beckons me closer
I approach
It blasts away my shell
It reveals another truth.

The diamond,
It is the same as my true substance,
It is the same as your true substance,
You and I are diamond.

I like.

I always imagined there being a star that had a similar effect, but it actually seems better to have a diamond shining so brightly as to resemble a star. And it has a better connotation with the fact that diamonds are forever.

Pretty, that was some sweet writting.
