Poem: Heartbreak

Ah, my heart shatters
Lady death, what pain or agony boasts louder than this?
Grasping
Fingers catch on sharp edges and jagged pieces
It’s falling apart, I cannot hold it
Futile
Icy shadows cling as I pray for liberation.

Awakening now
Heart cannot fully fall to pieces or completely break in half
When the moment is perfect
The heart can break through an outworn calcified shell
Breaking grants liberation from a deceptive captivation

Trials make the heart stronger
A heart with a shell cannot be touched
We hope that a heart that that cannot be touched cannot be wounded.
But know that a heart that cannot be wounded cannot do anything at all.

No living heart is safe
No safe heart is living
Dying, the one safety
Living, the constant risk

May I live and love again
Yes
I may live and love again
