Sugar is bad for your health in part due to it being a large amount of pure refined calorie.
If a person eats normal food, there will be sugars too, but not refined, and not all at the same time.
Now this refinement culture applies also to the media.
People get the finished product (belief) without needing to digest (think and form truly new ideas)
Junk food, both mental and physical, is a force of capital, modern… stuff.
What else can I say?
dig deeper Dan. What forces create the predigested media, food, commercialism,
that we have in America today? Not only create the predigested stuff but creates
a demand for it. The capitalist system demands new consumers every day and the
way to create demand is to create consumers and that way is to create a drug,
create a means that must need a drug to consume everyday. Consumerism is a drug
and the fix is to buy, buy, buy, crap like predigested crap. dig deeper dan.
I was thinking it had to do with people getting a large monopoly of money then even if they die someone else inherits it and the monopoly outlives its makers.
I’m not sure how deep it goes. Most of the whole process is stolen. Stolen from natures.
“Smoking = free will”. That is an example of some tricky lawyer style thinking.
It’s not exactly true, either.
But they try to devise new ‘drugs’ every day.
K: how deep does it go? It is the basis of our modern system today. Now be a doctor and
look at both the disease and any possible cure? This is what Socrates did, this is what
Nietzsche did. Is there a cure for our modern “disease”?
The cure… Good genes, good souls, good culture. Good this good that. youtube.com/watch?v=_BaGAWicGbE
There is a common idea by the self proclaimed darwinists of the age.
They seem to think animals are amoral, and that it is good to be amoral.
I think this video, it re affirmed some of my ideas.
Such as the idea that almost all mammals share similar brain structure.
We have the size, but that doesn’t mean the smaller brains are unaffecting.
When the will turns the will-less into another will.
Life is good when it spreads, advances, complexifies, etc.
And when it is all destroyed, the net result would be less will and more dead will-less forces.
Life isn’t always good, too.
I was brief about it, because sensible idealists would quickly understand without any need for fine detail.
And besides this I think being dead is good (peace) and being alive is good (productivity)
the only bad state is when we are half dead, half alive, basically sick and in decline.
I would take any predigested media if it meant saving wasted time.
Bird pre digest food for their babies. If you think of predigested media as people puking information down your throat it is a pretty good deal if you ask me.
Dig deeper Peter. What is the cause of consumerism?
Because people want to buy, people enjoy slavery.
Why do you think when you walk into a convienience store, the first magazines are about stupid gossip and celebrity affairs? Because people are idiots and that is what they want, it is deep inside their stupid DNA.
If we were dead we would be unconscious and we wouldn’t even experience it, so it is probably not even possible.
Death and Night is 100 percent feminity, Living and Light is 100 percent masculine. We are usually imbetween. Half dead is not the same as being “sick”, there can be death without sickness, happens most every night.
Man this is a fucking judgmental crowd. What’s the point of reading “smart” media if you’re just going to use it as an excuse to be a shitty person to people who read “dumb” media? You could just spit on people and spend all that wasted reading time doing something way more fun than reading philosophy. I mean if the purpose is to be perceived as intelligent, you’re not accomplishing that. If the purpose is to solve problems, it’s philosophy, so you’re not going to do that. If the purpose is to improve the lives of others, you’re not doing that by being a dick. Philosophy isn’t getting you laid, it’s not getting you food, there’s no biological need it will meet. You’re not hitting any of the traditional motives for doing things. I don’t get it.
I’m expecting like 3 nerds to pop in and yell “Ad hom” in harmony, or one Joker fan to pop in and say “I don’t like rules but I’m a stickler for off topic personal insults as a matter of duty and honor.”
The complaint that media isn’t smart enough for you is an obnoxious display of arrogance. It’s like wyld’s post about how bad this forum is. He gets beat up on by a bunch of clowns and it’s legitimate because you’re defending your own but when you do it to others you get sad when someone calls you on it?
Is this a real discussion? This topic is essentially “Why do people like treats? Let’s give them shit because I can’t figure out why.” And then a rant about the typical boogiemen, consumerism, corporations.
And what is the answer? Censorship, book burning, forced conformity, good culture, good genes? Are we going back to eugenics now because Harry Potter is a best seller? Wait, no you probably like that book. 50 Shades of Gray? Twilight?
And do I need to know anything about any of you to assume you all indulge every once in a while? I think that’s a pretty safe bet. So that’s at least two contradictions, a bunch of assumptions. The chances of you precisely identifying any problem or solution this way has to be sooooo small.
