Neuroscientist Baroness Susan Greenfield corrected her interviewer this week: he described her as “popularizing” science. No, she said, she is “democratizing” science. Well NOW we know what is the current fashion for how celebrity scientists present themselves. A decade or more ago, they were happy to say that they were “popularising” science, but that might allow them to be confused with that lesser breed known as journalists. So now they have become more respectable. “Democratisation” is a MUCH better, MUCH more respectable, MUCH more up to date word. Actually, these words are propaganda. If we are going to call a spade a spade, then these scientists are merely jumping on the celebrity bandwagon and painting their intentions gold.
Yep.
They out and out lie.
Michio Kaku admitted that he does so merely to gain interest from the population.
