What does it mean to a counselor or psychologist when you, the client, attempts to constantly analyze and guess what the counselor/psychologist is thinking and you share this with them in the session?
What do most counselors (more than likely this can’t be answered) think when their client tells them they have become obsessed with researching them…or when a client frequently brings up the fact that the she is a patient of the counselor in front of other faculty… or when a client while somewhat drunk projects supposedly intuitive conclusions onto her counselor in front of other professors?
Also do any of you know of any college or university ethical guidelines for the processes on hiring counselors? My college hired a counselor quickly at the beginning of this academic year, but did not notify (at least not to my knowledge) the college community that he was only an interim, who would have to go through an interview process with other candidates at the end of this academic year. This seems unethical.
