Why do many people complain about purposelessness, meaninglessness, and nihilism as if they have no value in life?
Because you don’t. Most people are accidents. Your procreation was unplanned by your parents. You have no great purpose in life. You have very little function. Very few people, if any, are bred for a specific purpose. But some are. A well bred soldier, makes a great soldier. A well bred doctor, makes a great doctor. A well bred leader, makes a great leader. One of the biggest problems of life and society is that purpose, meaning, and high value is rare. Most people use their own low value, to measure other low value. When they do this, the skewed results should be expected. Obvious people will complain about purposeless, meaningless, worthless lives when…their procreation, their conception, was purely accidentally. How many humans alive today are alive, solely, because their mother’s were drunk out of their minds? How many humans owe their entire miserable lives to alcohol? Too many.
The average life, defined by an average, has low value, purpose, function, meaning, and necessity because of how it was bred into existence to begin with.
High value, high purpose, high meaning, all these come from something beforehand. If you don’t have the lineage then it’s hard to compensate for something you’ve never been used to. When you are a walking genetic accident then it maybe inconceivable for you to even begin to imagine a “Purposeful” and “Meaningful” life. These notions will be foreign to you, incomprehensible, or worse, impossible for you. But just because your life is an accident, doesn’t mean it is for everybody else. Even base animals in the wild appease their sexual appetites and instinctive engage in the virility of life. If an animal can default to its instinct then can humans, too?
Perhaps the problem can be boiled down to a lack of foresight. Your conception was an accident, unexpected, because nobody saw your existence coming, and least of all you. So it’s no wonder why you believe that your consciousness is some god-given miracle. Or that your solipsism, you believe the universe revolves around your eyeballs and the universe caters to your desires, your moods.
All of this just reiterates my point and reminds everybody else of what you are, and what you share with the commonality. You are an accident. Your life has no purpose. Literally. Genetically.
