Ok I have been a Christian, and I have stopped because I don’t want to follow a religion that contradicts itself. No way am I doubting God or Jesus (I know he is our savior and The Son of God). In fact I consider myself pretty spiritual, more now that I have stopped being a Christian. Anyways, what amazes me is that in the bible, God says to not worship any other man, spirit, idol/figure, that we must only worship him. This is a main rule in Judaism and Islam and supposedly in Christianity and Catholicism. If that’s so, why do Christians worship Jesus? Yes we are grateful and thankful to him–he was the Messiah, but he is not God, nor did he ever say he was. In fact, he came to save us from worshiping wrong figures, and to bring us back to worshiping God, not himself. And for Catholics, its worse. Catholics worship Jesus, Mary, and several saints. If you are Christian or Catholic, please don’t hide away from this point. I’ve brought this up to several people who are Christian and they all refuse to answer. Its not a bad thing to question you’re religion, after all you should know what you’re believing in and WHY. So yah, haha. I just want to know if anyone agrees or disagrees with this.
In John 10:30, Christ says "I and the father am One. That sort of points to Christ saying that he is also God…though it is not explicit. This is why as a christian one would worship christ. In worshipping christ, one is worshipping god.
If you do not believe that christ was god - part human part divine - second person of the Blessed Trinity, then that destroys the structure upon which christianity was founded, at least as far as one is concerned.
Doubting the words of Jesus is the same as doubting Jesus, especially when it comes to such a statement as that. You made the statement that in no way are you doubting god or Jesus. Perhaps, perhaps not, christianity makes conflicting statements. Christianity is comprised of human beings, no? But perhaps also you simply wish to pick and choose your own…which is also human. Perhaps part of the beauty of christianity is that it has a smorgasboard (sp?) of food of which you can choose. But if you are a tried and true christian, you will choose sparingly…
Ahh… you edited… sorry, must have been getting my coffee (or head in the Frige).
“You made the statement that in no way are you doubting god or Jesus.”
Actually what I said was that I have no choice in the matter (despite your life of unending doubts).
“christianity makes conflicting statements”
Depending on how you read them.
Reading ANY writing, especially scriptures, one must be charitable to the intention of the authors.
“But perhaps also you simply wish to pick and choose your own…which is also human.”
…emm… “my own” what?
As I said prior, I have no choice in the matter.
…and what makes you think I am “hue-of-Man”?
“Christianity is comprised of human beings, no?”
And you are composed of molecules… but is that what you are about? Is that what really defines you?
“Perhaps part of the beauty of christianity is that it has a smorgasboard (sp?) of food of which you can choose. But if you are a tried and true christian, you will choose sparingly.”
…emm… okay. If you say so.
The Gospels seem to portray a Jesus who was ambivalent about his messianic status:
Jesus commands silence about his identity as the Christ in many instances. An example is Mark 8:29–30:[6]
And he asked them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
Jesus also issues commands of silence after miracles and healings, e.g. in Mark 1:43–45 in the cleansing of a leper:
After sternly warning him he sent him away at once, saying to him, ‘See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.’
James, whatever do you mean by “head in the Frige”? Do you have one that is detachable? My goodness, if my head was detachable, I would probably never find where I left it. Perhaps that’s why you keep yours in the fridge. Okay, that was dopey, but I suppose that I was just in the mood for making a silly funny.

As for the rest of this my friend, it was directed toward OnlybutteredPopcorn. He had contradicted himself.
I was simply asking You if you had seen it - I think. But thank you for responding.
“Despite my life of unending doubts”? Do you really see me that way, James? Explain please.
I think that we are all capable of making conflicting statements because we do not examine ‘more’ of the picture. It’s possible that the more we (universally speaking) discuss things, the clearer they become - our minds see more (or perhaps not lol).
But perhaps it is more important to try to better understand what the intentions of the authors ARE. And let’s not forget, we all have different perceptions and they all may be valid. The more that can be seen, the clearer becomes the picture.
And as i said, this wasn’t directed at you. “hue-of-Man”??? Where have i read that before?
Anyway, that phrase sort of resonates within me as saying that we all do see things differently, every human being, some of us see only black and white, some see gray areas, some see different blends of colors, some of us see with rose-colored glasses. Our brains do have somethng to do with that but we can retrain them to see what - well, we can repaint the images and look back to see what changes have been made.
That is a bit of what I am about. and they only define me if I allow them to. What is it that defines me…why bother, I’m always changing James. What defines me is whatever I am flowing into in the moment. Yes, I know - you won’t lke that answer. But I am flux. Come up with a different word then “define” and maybe I can have an answer.
Yes, I do but I am not a christian james. You know this. I still do not know what you are. Ah, damn, how I do not like to label. I suppose that you worship in the temple of reality…a wonderful place to be.
