I’ve an unusually small amount of time to be on ILP these days, not that my absence goes noticed. I never really did post much of interest, but I’ve enjoyed it about here and do miss it a bit, as a source of entertainment if nothing else. I’m in Michigan, beginning this morning the second week in my new position as a federal employee…woo. I do love it here, though. Lake Michigan is lovely, and I can see it from the window of my apartment. I think I’m in love with big water. Now if only I could make it to the ocean one of these days…

I’ve posted on this board for a long time, and I’ve never involved myself in the politics of moderation. Currently, I am in a state of disappointment and loss of respect, (to a degree), with the moderation of the site.
I used to come here and read interesting things.
Now it’s just a bunch of shit slinging faggots talking about how strong they are.
Philosophy per se is out the window for ILP, and it has been for a good while.
It was ok when it was still entertaining, but it’s just laughable to watch the mods suck the dicks of people who think that a “contribution” to the site just means a really long post w/ alot of quotes and generalized insults.
I’m fully disgusted.
Well, I haven’t been a member for all that long, and I’ll readily admit that I’m certainly not the most intelligent person about here, but I have to say I agree with you to an extent. I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of posts about here even just since I joined myself. I don’t generally post a whole lot in the more serious threads because I acknowledge that I don’t really know what I’m talking about, and I’d rather read what the informed have to say on any given topic than subject anyone to my own ignorance, but many threads lose their, well, thread, because people seem intent upon forcing their own (generally rude and crass) views on others.
…I’m still more entertained than irritated, though.

Shit. Why does it always come down to everyone just needing to get laid? The “content” of the site goes up and down over time. This place really isn’t any different than the average pub. Mostly bullshit with a speck of gold mixed in once in awhile.

LoL, I’m with the teacher in LA who’s calling for a revolution, though I disagree with his opinion that socialism is the way to go. I think the US needs a major political overhaul, we’re a nation of many being run by a few who believe that it’s more important to be PC than to uphold the laws and values our country was founded on (not that many of them aren’t a bit outdated). It’s too easy for those of influence and power to twist and warp what was intended to be quite clear-cut, such as Elena Kagan’s idea that to trample on the people’s first amendment rights would somehow benefit the people.
Hey Blurred, Smears actually raises a good point about oceans. Oceans do suck on account of being salty and all. Scenery around oceans is nice, but for swimming purposes, lakes (freshwater bodies) take the cake. Then again, that’s just my opinion. Just don’t stand downwind from me.
So, have you looked up xzc yet? He mentioned something about being somewhere in a similar geographical area. I vouch for him. You kids might make the best of friends.
LoL, I’ll take your words on the ocean’s lack of quality as a swimhole, but I have no intention of going swimming in Lake Michigan, either. It’s just so lovely to look at, sit near, and walk along the shoreline. I’m hoping someone, whether it be someone I know now or an as-yet-unknown person, will take me out on a boat at some point this summer.
As for xzc, well shrug I hadn’t thought about it too much. I’m generally sick of hanging out with teenagers (not to say that he’s not a worthwhile person, but that I’ve spent the last 10.5 months surrounded by teenagers, and really crave adult company these days).
