Is there any way, once you are in the middle of replying to a post, to copy and paste from the initial post without opening a new window or going back or copying and pasting the entire thing?
On threads that are multiple pages, it’d be nice to be able to hit reply, then somehow see the initial post to copy and paste on.
I don’t think so. I come up against the same problem fairly often, because the box at the bottom only goes back like 25 posts. The best solution I’ve found is to either open a new window or hit the ‘quote’ button in a post that I know I’ll want to quote.
There might be a variable somewhere that I could change, but that would be both unsatisfactory and not ideal. Unsatisfactory, because there will always be some topics that won’t display the first post; and not ideal, because it would slow down how fast the reply page loads, and the site in general because there would be so much more loading of posts (I actually think it’s the same variable that determines how many posts there are per page in the thread, which would mean doubly so much more loading). While it is a pain to open a new window or tab, it happens relatively infrequently, so it’s not really worth sacrificing performance the rest of the time to fix.
Unacceptable Carleas. I refuse to be inconvenienced and demand that you code something that displays the first post in an easily accessible place for ease of quoting.
