Rap Battle

Righto. Let me track down a mike to use with my laptop…

Things i will be looking for- Volcabulary, Entertainment value, interesting lyrics. (Some Vulgarity)

Spittin’ off the top and lookin’ down with pity -
hittin’ you at terminal velocity/your reciprocity -
looks like a toff and me/discussed philosophy -
But by the end you were dead with two holes in your head -
And through smelting/your gold watch was used for my grill gilding-
So no sniveling/at a prophecy/with no chance of stoppin me -
your preposterous snipes at me -
will only help me sight you, and ignite you -
Like the straw man that you are -
No courage/like you’re a fat kid who dropped out of MOMAR.

I’m fine having Wonderer as the end-all and be-all of judging in this debate, unless others volunteer.

Sick. This is soooo sick.

You have to be able to laugh at yourself.

The best way to do it over the top (like "grill gilding") is to imagine it coming out of some corny famous rapper.

It makes it easier and shifts the embarrassment…

I propose some rules: 3 rounds, with 3 days to respond. Responses must be in the form of a link to an audio file playable by Windows Media Player. Choose any beats you like. Wonderer will be the sole judge. I nominate myself to go first. All good, Carleas?

Perfect. Let me get someone to make the thread, and you can post a link to your first rap there.

Sounds fun.

If you guys are having trouble, take inspiration from one of the greats.

2pac, (some biggie), some easy E, old school snoop dog, some jay z because he can say anything and make it sound like a rap, necro of course, and immortal technique for sure. Eminem is alright, but i only like his older songs…

Good luck gents.

Yeah, Eminem got lame later on.

A sketch of influences, in reverse chronological order: The Flobots, Big L, Kanye, a little Mos Def, The Transplants, some Eminem, Cypress Hill, un peu de MC Solaar (for you francophiles), Rage Against the Machine, and the Beastie Boys. Some traditional rap, but a lot of it is more alternative.
My beats are likely to be somewhat unconventional for rap, but I’ll try to work some more traditional stuff in. I’ll see what Impious is using before I make any final decisions, and I’m definitely going to take Wonderer’s tastes into account.

Big L was one i should have mentioned. cypress hill are more or less entertainment value. I like their sound but their lyrics could sue sprucing up. Sort of like Necro at times.

I shall have the debate thread up-and-running by the end of the week - watch this space! :happy-partydance:

We now have kick off people… :happy-partydance:
