I know most of the theory behind a rapid induction, however it doesn’t seem to work for myself even though I feel I’ve done it perfect. Also, is it ethical? Surely not.

Seems there are alot of Jedis walking around rapidly inducing bartenders and having them serve them free drinks. I’m sure you’ll all be interested in knowing how to do one now. But seriously.

The psychology is, you grab the attention of someone, rapidly re-direct their attention causing an error and quick void in the conscious mind giving you a split second or so to command the person (sending a message to the subconscious) with words usually “sleep” or “sleep now” then deepening to desire. I’ve heard this can be done to people unwillingly. It all seems so possible, but yet rarely do I see this being done and you’d think it’d be practiced all the time if you could change peoples minds, even to the point of having them forget you even rapidly induced them.

Peter Powers can knock a head and snap, say sleep, and have someone in trance. Quite fascinating if possible. I’ve only done this on friends and family as that’s all I’ve had the balls for, but those are supposed to be the worst subjects however.

Here’s a good example, except no command like sleep is used. Confused the conscious (pattern interrupt), and gave subconscious commands.

[The guy in this video](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=befugtgikMg&NR=1) looks like an actor, Simon Pegg, who played Shaun in Shaun of the Dead. I can’t tell if he signed the right name. The first part of the signature looks like it could be ‘Simon’, but the first letter of last name looks like a K, and the second to last letter doesn’t appear to dip below the line. If he’s not signing the right name, the clip is very suspect. If he is, it’s still slightly suspect to use actors for things like this.

I’m skeptical of things like this. A studio isn’t a lab; a lot of things can be made to look very different on TV. Actors, group think, editing of unsuccessful subjects, etc. There’s not a lot of scientific validation of these phenomena, and the non-scientific validation doesn’t seem that convincing to me. I just think people’s minds are too varried for some sort of formulaic manipulation to be that powerful.

Hey may very well be but that one really isn’t an instant or rapid induction. It’s persuasion with the mind.

It’s all very scientific. Go back and watch again, listen to what Derren says, he uses things like “you want bm or xbox (bmx)” He uses words that run together and that are typically nonsensical but create a subliminal suggestion. I’m still looking for what would be towards the red color, something that may sound like red or end in r and start with ed or possibly rhyme. Notice how many x’s b’s and m’s he uses. Box of chocolates, lets say X, etc.

There’s another clip of something similiar, he asks people where there getting off at on the train, they tell him and he uses language that causes them to forget. Just as "don’t “think of a black cat” you can’t help but think of one because “think of black cat” is said.

There’s a vid of his called mind trick and it’s the fourth one I think of children and a teacher in the classroom, he explains how that one works.

Some may wonder why Borat acts the way he does towards the woman he thinks is a gypsie in the Borat movie. Here is why.

This “scam” is how gypsies live. It is sort of common knowledge that if a gypsie asks you what time it is you shouldn’t look at them.

When I was in Russia (St. Petersburg) I saw plenty of them walking around the streets, some spoke to me as well as I passed them on the street, and I saw a few tv specials where gypsies laughingly bragged about hypnotizing people and taking all their money and even their clothes, leaving the person to “come to” naked in the snow in some foreign location (they even convince people to take them to their apartment and let them take everything, and gypsie men often rape women using this trick).

That makes alot of sense. It’s weird that this is uncommon knowledge… most people think of pyschological tricks in america as black magic.

We know for certain quick hypnotic inductions can work, and since they can with a command like “sleep” and “sleep now” other commands like derren uses, “give me your watch there, oh and I’ll take your house keys as well” can be possibilities.

As I said it’s just interupting the pattern of the mind then giving a quick command to the subconscious, thus why it feels “natural”.

Now that I’m starting to read up on the mind and pyschology, it’s extremely fascinating.

I used the technique of memorizing words by putting them with ludicrous circumstances that connect with another. I can memorize 100 words in under 5 min. If interested I’ll explain how. Derren showed a method of even counting cards by having his own memory “home” and inside he has a “card room” in that room there are 52 devices that represent a card, when 4 decks are involved he uses red stickys on the objects. Then removes the object totally when used up… I have not tried this yet but it seems possible.

Club,

I’d love to hear how you memorize 100 words in four minutes

The jury is definitely still out on mentalism and hypnosis in general. Most of the evidence to support it is stage magic and anecdote, which is hardly as compelling as can be. But it is difficult to test. However, for a claim like the video that club posted, Darren could be taken to a street corner, they could agree that every Xth person that passes, he will attempt to get their watch. Then record his success rate. It’s still not that rigorous, but it’s more rigorous than anything I could find, while still maintaining the casual and unexpected element that might be necessary for the phenomenon to appear (one could imagine that entering a lab might make someone uncomfortable or guarded enough to cause problems).

The bit about gypsies, if true, is interesting. Would that really be rape, if the woman is convinced she wants it? I mean, isn’t that what pick up lines are all about?

Well, I guess it wouldn’t technically be rape at the moment it happens, as idea of rape suggests a (physical) resistance, but I think we can call it rape if we generalize one’s wants to what they tend to be when one is in normal sober/waking/everyday consciousness.

The relation to pick up lines is interesting though. Where would a pick up line’s ability to put a woman in a frame of mind where she is more likely to “come along” to what he wants her to think seperate from hypnotic suggestion?

Where does everyday persuasion become hypnoticism? What if one isn’t even aware they are hypnoticing the other person to act a certain way, accidentally “raping” the person?

I want to give this some thought, so I’ll reply to this later on.

On sort of a first reaction though, I think it may have something to do with the person’s INTENTION to confuse the other person, in a sense attacking another’s momentary fitness in a certain situation–lowering their ability to cope with a larger environment (their awareness of the environment)–by purposefully focusing the other’s attention on a single sense perception from which one can’t choose how to act, leaving them open for (unconscious) suggestions.

When one purposefully ignores another’s will, by trapping it and telling the confused mind what to think, feel, and do, they are ignoring another’s rights as a person (as I think most people would feel), using their body (which they own) for the person’s own needs.

At the moment it might not be rape, but that is only because the other person ceased that person’s mind from acting on its own.

The active disabling of one’s ability to choose and make sense out of the environment, and then hypnotically suggesting them to act in such a way that is detrimental to themself (according to their beliefs, needs, and desires in waking consciousness) is a kind of rape, or temporary slavery.

The pick up line is more persuasion in that the other person’s ongoing interpretation os reality is influences by their own active imagination.

When one is hypnotized I don’t think they do something because they WANT to do it. I think they just do it, and sort of observe themselves doing it but don’t have the regular “this is good or bad” free-will/mind while doing so. I think they just watch themselves act, sort of relaxed-assured-confident that what they were told to do is the inevitable/correct response.

I believe there are a lot of holes, and arguments you’re bound to have based off what I’ve said.

This requires a lot of consideration, write back later.

By the way, I remember for my high school senior class graduation a hypnotist hypnotized some students.

At one point one of the hypnotized guys argued “That can’t be true, because I’m gay!” to which everyone went absolutely ape shit in laughter.

When he was “brought to” he suddenly remembered what he said, and yelled out loud, in attempt to convince everyone, " I am not gay!"

Here’s how it’s done.

Take for instance you have these words, banana, grass, newspaper, tree, watch.

think of a banana, then think of a field of grass made of bananas, then think of a newspaper made of grass, then think of a newspaper in the shape of a tree.

Imagery with connectors can help you memorize a ton of things in very little time. However, the images must be ludicrous. They must be so out there that they can be remembered, when they connect it’s very simple. It only takes going over them once… you take the first word, image it, the connect it to the next and so on, when your done think about it and you should be able to connect forwards and backwards.

the only trouble I’ve had so far is with words that are vague. It works better with things like apples, bananas, sausage, car, tree, birds, w/e. Things are easier.
