Rapists beware!

smh.com.au/news/world/contro … 83893.html

I have a humous but true book about crazy pattents from the US pattent office and that thing is in there.

The crazy thing about it is that you cant predict rape so then you got to walk around with this thing in your vagina 24/7.

Crazy evil women could use it to mutilate innocent guys too.

Bad, an not the good kind.

I think it’s a great idea. Pepper spray and cars can also be abused.

Terrific - another misconception of the problem and a totally absurd solution that will only breed more violence. No offence, but only a woman could have come up with such a shit idea…

disregarding the downsides for a moment…

…nice one

I applaud her ingenuity. I think its great. Although it does kind of bring to mind the saying “Gone fishing” and gives it an interesting twist. Hmm twist might cause some of you more sensitive males to squirm so lets forget I used that word while speaking of this reversed barbed condom.
For any that thinks of forceful sex, I do hope it causes squirming and thought. Although I believe the males here to be Gentlemen of higher standards. So forget the above.

I still don’t see anyone explaining why adding violence to violence is a good solution…

SIATD: The logic is infallible:

Rapists suck. The implication/suggestion of something horrible happening to a rapist is satisfying and/or funny. Ergo, this device is a good thing.

Believe me, I understand it alright, it just doesn’t seem like it’ll achieve anything but an augmentation and exacerbation of the problem.

Oh, Heavens no, it isn’t a good idea. If a woman did that to me, I’d beat her to death out of spite if I were able, rapist or no. I suspect that’s how it would go in many cases, if this thing were actually used.
I think there’s a drastic seperation here in how we respond to the notion of a rapist getting what he derserves, and any practical thought of how this would actually play out.

And if it was a gang rape, she’d really be “screwed” then, wouldn’t she?

It is a surface level solution to a much deep rooted problem. That men would be willing to perform such an unacceptable action as rape is the core problem. The massive estrangment and apathy towards women that make such actions commonplace is what must be changed.

This is another instance of looking towards technology to solve what is actually much more of a social problem.

The practicality of the situation is this:

By the time this horrid little device has a chance to do anything, the woman has already been beaten, stripped, humiliated, and possibly defiled in any number of ways. Hell, the rapist may not even get around to the particular act that would give the woman her bloody revenge. Wouldn't *that* be ironic.
Wouldn't you rather have a friggen handgun? I mean honestly, if you live in the type of area where you would even consider wearing one of these, there are plenty of other options available for self defense. The idea that a woman has to wait until things progress this far to protect herself kinda gives in to the status of 'woman as helpless victim' in my mind.

EDIT: Last but not least, consider the lawsuits that will arise the first time a woman puts the thing in wrong-side out.

Not only that but when the man comes in contact with that thing, the women is as good as dead.

Or forgets that she’s wearing it when she gets home and ‘sees’ her husband…

But true, there are better forms of self-defence than this. There’s a connection with the CCTV channel that I mentioned the other day - all that you’ll see is a modification of the crime(s) rather than a reduction of them. In the case of the CCTV channel it will just discourage criminals from doing… whatever in front of those particular cameras that are being watched. In the case of the anti-rape mantrap you’ll just see different forms of violence and sexual assault than actual penetration.

And herein lies another point that I keep making - it’s so fucking ingrained in people that ‘rape’ means ‘male penetrative sexual assault on female’ that ALL other forms of sexual abuse and assault are seen as somehow lesser crimes, except for pedophilia of course. If a man makes an aggressive explicit comment when beating a woman then it is seen as a sexual assault, if a woman stabs a man in the testicles then it’s GBH (no sexual connotation therefore a shorter sentence). And then you get ‘feminists’ saying ‘look, women don’t get convicted of sexual crimes anywhere near as much as men, so it must be a male thing’.

Like I say about so many of these things - our gross misconceptions of the actual problem lead us to ‘solutions’ that only make things worse.

Which would you rather be raped in, the mouth or vagina (lets pretend you have one)?

come on, angst. Everyone has a mouth.

Uccisore,

Your recent avatars sure are an esoteric bunch, and that’s coming from someone who spends an unhealthy amount of time looking for avatars. And I liked the joke…

Other than the picture of me, they are all related. This one, for example, is Moguera from [u]Godzilla vs Space Godzilla /u. I have a stack of about 2 dozen that I’ve yet to use, but I don’t want to change them any more than once per day.
