We all know about migrants from Syria and Iraq fleeing ISIS, but we also know a lot of them are just males, of fighting age, not taking family with them… and many aren’t apparently even from those two countries… they are playing refugee so as to get residency in Europe.
I found this article, had trouble making sense of it at first from The South China Morning Post. I’m supplying a additional link, helped clear stuff up for me.

I’ve known Japan has a large immigrant population… it’s from all over, including Indonesia and India… Japanese are somewhat tolerant of them because they are Asian, not targeted with suspicion like Westerners are.
I never really knew about China though. I know North Koreans and prostitutes from Myanmar do some epic scale boarder crossing, but I just assumed the job market wasn’t there… they got a lot of dirt poor farmers really struggling in China. I don’t think there are many job opportunities for foreigners there, even large cities like Shanghai only have a little over 2000 foreign residents living there.
Turns out, half of Asia is trying to sneak into already cramped as hell Hong Kong, but they figured out they can claim being tortured to stay… and avoid the meetings. This article names India specifically, and while I admit India can be pretty horrible and repressive, you can very, very easily dissapear in that country, and no one will find you. I’m a little stumped how they are showing up to Hong Kong of all places, and not a border city. If I was being tortured, I’m not heading to a airport, but rather a cheap bus to the border… I need every last cent.
Vietnamese have higher rates of Torture claims… may even be true, but like… you can dissapear most anywhere into Southeast Asia if your just looking for safety. Why does it always gotta be the richest spots everyone flees to? When the US brings refugees into the US, we don’t settle them in the largest, wealthiest spots, but in communities out in the middle of nowhere, that needs workers. US is admittedly paradise, but it’s a absurdly cold and mundane paradise at spots. If your from a hot country, we pit you in a cold spot, if a cold country, a hot spot. We are twisted like that.
I think if countries adjust refugee status, blocking refugees from emigrating to the best spots, but rather outskirts boring humdrum cities, given apartments and local employment but paid only at their expected rates back home, then the only people seeing out foreign refugee residency would be actual refugees.
Its getting silly, any country with a functioning economy is under threat.
