Republican Party Platform

We all know, now, what the GOP platform for 2012 is. We know it contains planks seemingly chosen to cement unity within the already Red states: no reproductive rights for women, no civil or human rights for homosexuals, no compromises on immigration. (I know I’m being abrasive, aggressive, and abusive–I’ll do the same with the Democratic platform once it’s published.)

The Affordable Health Care Act will go down the tubes even though a lot of it is based on the Mass. health care plan. Medicare and medicaid would go private, with block grants to the states which will “given the flexibility to determine the best programs for their residents.”

The Energy plank says,"The party is committed to domestic energy independence and an “all-of-the-above” energy policy, backing the exploration and development of the Outer Continental Shelf and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. It criticizes the Obama administration for picking winners and losers in the energy sector and expresses support for new coal-fired plants that will be low-cost, environmentally responsible and efficient.

It adds: “We will end the EPA’s war on coal and encourage the increased safe development in all regions of the nation’s coal resources.” It calls on Congress to prohibit the EPA from moving forward with new greenhouse gas regulations “that will harm the nation’s economy and threaten millions of jobs over the next quarter century.” This comes a few days after satellite measurements show a huge decrease in the Arctic Ice mass due to both natural global warming and pollutants in the air. (Washington Post)

As for taxes, “The party backs constitutional amendments to balance the federal budget and require a super majority for any tax increases.” It will extend Bush’s tax cuts “pending reform of the tax code.”

Does this all sound good to you?

It sounds good to racist bigoted people and of course to
the rich and corporate who thrive on the ownership
of Reep politicians.

Please. I want to know what people think!

I’ve read Gov. Romney’s acceptance speech and have my thoughts concerning both the tenor and the inconsistencies within it. It seemed to me he was trying to white-wash the GOP platform while, at the same time, trying to maintain it. There was a lot of ‘family’ in the speech, but nothing about women’s rights. (His Mom looked forward to finding a rose on her beside table from his Dad. When it wasn’t there, he implied, to me, that was when his mother learned of her husband’s death. Did they sleep in separate bedrooms?)

There was a portrayal of the Mormon Church as normal people. Of course! Why shouldn’t it be? But did Bain, the investment firm, really start as a ‘small entrepreneurship.’ Seems to me it was more a spin-off of company assets in order to re-invest and skirt around corporate taxes.

I really don’t see any if this as anything more the Party politics.

Republicans = poor people should boot strap it. they have no right to my stuff

Democrats = rich people should have to give back some of that stuff the poor labored over so that the poor can eat and have shelter

Both of them however, are rich as fuck in most cases, and first and foremost serve the interests of the money that put them in place. After that’s all done, they toss around silly bills about domestic policy to get people excited about largely irrelevant things so they can get em out and maintain the facade that the direction of the country is decided at the poles. The idea is for the majority of people to have as little information as possible when they get there, so that they don’t catch on it’s all a scam and they’re fucked either way.
