An old man in a gas station call the police for an arrent of a trouble young juvenile, perhaps a bust of herione, but after spending weeks in jail, and out of bail, the old man was stab to death around midnight.
Now the risk of calling the police to complaint against someone will be like this, where is the protection from the enforcements? Did they all used their time to give people traffic tickets? Or the half of the branch trying to solve serial killer cases happened 10 yrs or not?
witness protection program for all that call in local complaints from noise disturbances, graffiti, or speeders? ok, maybe a little extreme. but why should we offer proactive security for these folks?
our police are reactive, not proactive.
people speed, THEN get a ticket.
people murder, THEN get arrested.
i personally, prefer it this way. i can’t imagine the increase in taxes that having a proactive police force would cause. nor the number of times i myself, my friends, relatives, or coworkers would probably have been arrested and delayed for hours if not days at a time for the suspicion of committing a crime. it would be like a really bad minority report … or maybe more accurately, a SECOND really bad minority report.
